New Chapter Home Improvement is a Cambridge outfit built on repeat customers — several reviewers say they keep calling owner Vicki Gray back for job after job over the years, from painting to carpentry to a bathroom remodel. It holds an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#175083) and active SBA and Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office certifications as a woman-owned and minority-owned business, alongside an SBA Woman-Owned Business of the Year 2026 recognition the company reports for itself. The review history runs deep and mostly recent — 27 reviews since 2022, including two just this year. A May 2026 review describes efficient, well-explained mold remediation, and another from the same month calls the team thorough and communicative start to finish. Older reviews show the same pattern holding over time: a 2025 review describes several years of carpentry and painting projects for one customer, and a 2022 review from someone managing a 160-year-old townhome says Vicki is "always my first call." Named staff show up often across the years — office manager Romeo checking in on a composite deck and roof job in 2024, field supervisor Leroy power-washing an entryway in 2023 — pointing to a stable crew rather than rotating subs. On pricing, a 2025 review describes them adjusting an estimate down when less work was needed than projected, and a 2024 review calls the pricing detailed and fair. The one clear miss: a 2024 review reports no-shows to scheduled appointments. A separate 2024 review mentions a cleanup slip after a sink, floor and window job, though the crew came back the same day once notified. A 2022 review never turned into a hired job — the reviewer's own plumber stopped responding, which delayed New Chapter's quote — but it doesn't fault the company for that. A good fit for an ongoing relationship — a homeowner or property manager with a running list of painting, carpentry and small remodeling jobs — and worth confirming current scheduling given the no-show mentioned above.
“New Chapter Home Improvement -- based in Cambridge, can recommend highly.”
I am very impressed with New Chapter Home's work! They were efficient, friendly and expert in both explaining and doing the mold remediation they did for us. I highly recommend them!
I had a great experience working with the New Chapter HI Services. Their team was thorough, communicative, professional, and incredibly easy to work with from beginning to end. They were responsive, decisive, and kept everything moving smoothly throughout the process. It’s refreshing to work with a company that is both organized and genuinely attentive to their clients. I would absolutely recommend them and would gladly work with them again in the future.
They did a good job covering everything in the bathroom and bedroom they were painting. And once they painted, they put things back together just as they had been when they got there. And the painting was done well. Great job!
The entire process from the initial phone call, to the on-site visit and estimate, to the actual work performed was top shelf! And when the work was performed and we didn’t need as much as projected, they adjusted our estimate. We would highly recommend them! Joanne & John Willis
