Aitkens Gutters installs and replaces gutters. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, number HIC.0639200, is active on the state registry under AITKENS GUTTERS LLC. The company says it has over 35 years of industry experience. A 2025 customer whose gutters were leaking badly said David explained the products and the gutter size needed, and that with the new gutters and gutter guards, water no longer entered the basement. In 2025, a customer who found water spots on the ceiling and water coming into the attic said the company got right out and fixed the problems, with no issues since. A 2025 customer said the company had replaced a section of gutters a couple of years earlier and that they planned to call it again for the rest. A 2024 customer said the new gutters solved a basement flooding issue. In 2025, a customer said David and his team hung copper gutters, but one was not properly pitched and began drip leaking down the side of a brick chimney. That 2025 customer said David repeatedly said he would come to fix it but never showed up, calls to the office were ignored, and two downspouts were left missing. A 2024 customer who had front and back gutters installed said the gutters had nothing but problems after the install and the company never came back to look at them.
David and his team hung copper gutters on my home and aluminum downspouts on my sunroom. He only had white aluminum downspouts in his truck, so he said he would come back with brown. A couple of days after the install, I noticed that one of the gutters was not properly pitched. David told me that he put a level on it and that it was properly pitched. This was not true. It began drip leaking down the side of my brick chimney. I texted David video and he told me he would be out to fix it. What ensued was a repeated trend of telling me he would be there the next day or following week, but he never showed up. I am a trusting person, so I kept following up with him giving him the benefit of the doubt. There was at least a dozen attempts made to set a date. Eventually David started to ignore my texts, so I called his office. A lady picked up and told me that she would have David take care of it. A week later I followed up and the lady said he was coming to my house the next day. He never showed up. I called the office a couple more times and was ignored again. So at the end of it, I have an improperly pitched gutter and 2 missing downspouts. I was quoted over $800 to finish the job. David wasted my time and energy and I was delivered a poor product from a supposed expert. The poorly pitched gutter shows a lack of good work. The communication shows a lack of honesty and integrity. The moral of the story is to never pay someone in full until the job is completely done. I have never Google reviewed anyone. I am very reasonable. However, this is so egregious that I feel it would be irresponsible not to inform others about my experience.
