One hundred and ninety-four permits and exactly one review — and the review is a bad one. Alexis Hung works out of Saugus on HVAC and sheet-metal jobs: air handlers, furnaces, condensers and ductwork, with permits pulled in Revere, Everett and Brookline. Thirty-four of them landed in the last three years at a typical value around $14,000, so the workload is real and current. The written side is a single January 2021 review, and it is specific. That customer described a heat-pump replacement in which the thermostat was installed and uninstalled roughly three times across two months; the outdoor unit turned out to be the wrong one, so a system specified to run down to −10°F stopped performing at 20°F and the house fell to 64°F against a 70°F setting. After the error was acknowledged, he wrote, he was asked to split the cost of the replacement unit — he withheld $2,500, and the reply he quotes confirms that split was the sticking point. BuildZoom also flags no active licence on file for him and says it could not verify one with the licensing board. If he's under consideration for a system swap, ask for the licence and insurance certificates first, and put the exact model numbers and the design outdoor temperature into the written contract — that is precisely where the 2021 job came apart.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Alexis Hung. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Starting in August 2020, until January 17th, he refused to complete the job properly unless I pay for part of his mistakes that need corrections. Alex installed our new HVAC system in Aug 2020, took two months to finish thermostat installation, (installed and uninstalled about 3 times). His installation of outside heat pump is wrong (Incorrect unit). Now wants me to pay part of the cost for a different unit that would work per our initial requirement. Details: I hired Hung HVAC to replace my Heating Cooling unit, he started the job in August 2020, finished the installation in October and I paid him. After 24 hours of running the new AC, home was not cooling to set 70 degrees. So, I called him, I stopped the last payment by calling the bank and asked Alex to fix the problem first. A week later he came with another guy, that guy said the thermostat was set to read the basement temperature. So he uninstalled and re-installed the thermostat. in the course of installation, two other guys came, over two months and kept uninstalling and reinstalling the thermostat, and finally called it complete and left. Problem # 2 Alex was hired to install a system that is supposed work until the outside temperature goes down to negative 10 degrees, however, his fresh new install, stops performing when temperature drops down to 20 degrees, (our home temperature went down to 64 degrees when it was set to 70 degrees). Alex first refused to accept anything was wrong, then when I had experts figure out the problem, that Alex installed the wrong outside unit, Alex admitted the error, agreed to re-install. At this point, I withheld $2500 and paid him the rest contract price. Problem # 3: Now Alex wants me to share the additional cost to correct his mistakes. Our communications, on Jan 17: I texted to him, "Alex, I have prepared myself to live with your installation. I will still give you two more weeks, to correct the knowledgeless work. You have this time to correct the mistaken work, if you remain silent, after two weeks,I close this chapter with a two or three star review for you. ~Simon" His Response, "Hi, I am also ready I am waiting for the 2500.00 that we decided on to split because I couldn't do the 5000.00 alone. Let me know."
