A water-damaged bathroom with new tenants due in six weeks is the kind of job a recent customer hired Matthew Brown of All American Carpentry RI for. The company describes its work as running from structural framing to the final piece of trim, says it has been in business 25 years, and lists Cranston, Providence, Johnston, Smithfield, North Providence and Portsmouth as its service area. It holds 5 stars across 10 Google ratings. That bathroom customer was handling a bathroom remodel and kitchen ceiling repair after a significant water leak, from out of state, after an insurance claim was denied and a previous contractor ghosted them. They said Matt sent detailed video and photo updates every evening, gave a transparent cost breakdown, and helped them select shower, tile, vanity and paint combinations. With work scheduled to finish one day before the tenants moved in, they said he worked overtime and weekends, and the delay came to maybe half a day. They also said he installed a temporary fix on a loose front porch step free of charge and cleaned the bathroom after finishing. A recent customer who first hired Matt for a bathroom remodel brought him back when their front porch steps began sagging. When he discovered the structural framing lacked the necessary supports, that customer said he already had a cost-effective plan, and the price rose only very minimally. They said he sent daily progress updates with photos and videos. A recent customer said Matt kept them updated at every step of the project. A recent reviewer said that from the initial estimate, Matthew Brown made the project simple and straightforward.

Second Project Done By Matt, and Once Again Exceptionally Happy! After Matthew Brown and All American Carpentry saved the day on our bathroom remodel earlier this year, we didn’t hesitate to hire him again when our front porch steps began sagging badly due to poor original installation. Once again, Matt exceeded every expectation. From the beginning to the end of the project, Matt maintained his top notch communication habits. He sent daily progress updates with photos and videos, kept us in the loop when an unexpected issue arose, and offered practical solutions that would not delay the timeline of the project. Matt is a fantastic problem-solver! When he discovered that the structural framing was in even worse shape than expected, completely lacking the necessary supports, he already had a cost-effective plan in place before he reached out. Because he was so on top of things, it greatly reduced our stress as the homeowners and only very minimally increased the price of the project. Throughout our bathroom remodel with him and this most recent project, Matt demonstrated time and time again his proactive problem solving skills and ability to make quick, cost-effective adjustments when the situation warrants. More than anything, we appreciate the integrity and ethics Matt displays in his communication, pricing, and the quality of his work. During both projects, he was very conscientious of our budget constraints. He operates with transparency, honesty, and fairness, and the quality of his work is top notch. He believes in building relationships with his clients, and we never felt like this was “just a job” to him. Matt Brown is truly a rare find in the contracting world — skilled, ethical, transparent, patient, and genuinely caring. We can’t recommend him and All American Carpentry highly enough!
Matt and his crew were fantastic to work with. Matt went out of his way to help the project run smoothly. He is a great communicator so I had updates at every step of the project. Would recommend!
Highly recommend these guys! Great quality work, professional from start to finish, and they take pride in what they do. They’re reliable, easy to work with, and make sure the job is done right. If you’re looking for a trustworthy construction company that stands behind their work, definitely give them a call. 5 stars!
If you are looking for an honest and professional company then I would highly recommend All American Carpentry. From the initial estimate Matthew Brown makes the project simple and straightforward with very good communication and an awesome crew.
If you are looking for an honest, skilled, ethical, and reliable contractor in Rhode Island, we highly recommend Matthew Brown and All American Carpentry. We just completed a bathroom remodel and kitchen ceiling repair due to a significant water leak. Handling a major repair from out of state was already stressful, but even more so after our insurance claim was denied and a previous contractor ghosted us, which left us (and the home!) in disarray just six weeks before new tenants were scheduled to move in. Matt completely turned the situation around. Matt impressed us on many levels, but these were the highlights: Outstanding Communication: Tracking remodel progress from a distance is challenging, but Matt sent detailed video and photo updates every single evening (and often during the day). He was extremely responsive and detail-oriented in all of his communications, which really helped put our minds at ease. Design & Budget Minded: Matt provided a transparent, thorough cost breakdown and worked closely within our budget constraints without sacrificing quality. Whenever an unexpected expense came up due to the extent of the water damage, he quickly found cost-effective solutions. He also has a fantastic eye for design, and helped us select shower, tile, vanity, and paint combos that flow effortlessly together and look so much better than the original bathroom did! Proactive Problem-Solving: Major renovations always come with surprises. Matt was incredibly proactive — anticipating potential issues before they arose and acting quickly when complications popped up. Whenever an issue came up, he communicated it clearly, quickly, and already had multiple viable solutions ready for us to choose from. We were blown away by how hard he worked to make this project fall into place for us. Incredible Work Ethic: We were on a razor-thin timeline, with work scheduled to finish one day before our new tenants moved in. Matt worked overtime and weekends through numerous curveballs to make sure everything was done on time. What should have caused a few days’ delay only cost maybe half a day of delay due to his ingenuity and problem-solving skills. He worked hard to keep everything on schedule and within budget, was honest and forthright, never took the easy way out at our expense, and stayed kind and considerate throughout the entire process. Genuine Consideration: There are so many examples of Matt going above and beyond, but two really stood out. First, he noticed a loose front porch step that was in danger of breaking off and installed a temporary fix free of charge just to keep the property safe for our incoming tenants. Second, after finishing the remodel, he thoroughly cleaned the entire bathroom — disinfecting all surfaces and even cleaning the toilet inside and out — so it would be spotless for the new tenants on day one. Between a tight timeline and a chaotic environment (our outgoing tenants were actively packing and moving out while he was working), we threw a lot at Matt. Through it all, he maintained a positive, professional, and compassionate attitude. Finding someone with his level of craftsmanship, integrity, and genuine heart is rare. We are incredibly grateful for Matt and cannot recommend All American Carpentry highly enough!
