Allan Kitchen Gallery is a cabinet showroom first. Don and Ellen Allan have run it on Turnpike Street in Canton since the early 1990s, describing a business built "one cabinet at a time over the past 30 years," and BBB records a one-employee corporation with Ellen M Allan as president. What they sell is cabinetry — Medallion and Luxor lines, custom kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, cabinet doors — designed and installed. They do more than sell it. BuildZoom's file shows 56 permitted projects between 2014 and 2025, almost all kitchen remodels covering cabinets, countertops and flooring plus some bathroom work, running from roughly $2,875 to $60,000, in Brookline, Needham, Braintree, Milton, Wellesley, Newton, Boston and Easton. Their Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 115167, is active, and BuildZoom additionally lists an active construction supervisor licence. The written history is where things get complicated, and it stops early: the newest account on file dates to October 2020. The good ones read well. A customer writing in 2010 said Don Allan and his crew had done three kitchens for them, each better than the last, and pointed newcomers to the showroom displays. A 2017 reviewer came back fifteen years after their original kitchen gut to update the same room, adding cabinetry and end panels sized for a taller refrigerator. A 2018 customer who remodeled both a kitchen and a bathroom called the service generally okay and had praise for the construction crew, while noting that the custom cabinets they themselves had specified pushed the finish date out. Then there is May 2016. A reviewer that month wrote a pointed account accusing the woman running the business of caring more about collecting payments than about the customer, and the company of cutting corners where it could. It is a single review, a decade old, and it stands alone in the written record — but it is specific, and it sits beneath a Google average of 3.9 across nine ratings, lower than the five-star accounts alone would imply. BBB, for its part, does not accredit the business and lists it as Not Rated, saying it has insufficient information. For cabinetry — a showroom visit, a design, a Medallion or Luxor kitchen fitted — this is a long-running Canton business with an active registration and a genuine permit trail behind it. Ask for references from jobs finished in the past year or two, and get the change-order terms and payment schedule written down before you sign, because that is exactly where the one serious complaint on file landed.
nice store for shopping ni e train staff
I've had okay service from Allan Kitchens when we remodeled our kitchen and bathroom. They were generally okay, the contractor who did the construction was great. It took extra time to finalize a few details but that's because I created a few unique cabinets that had to be custom made. However, the plumber installed the wrong size flange for our toilet and didn't properly secure it. It cost me an $500 to have it fixed when it started leaking. I spoke to the receptionist several times and she took my name & information but never called back. I also asked to speak to the owners whom I was told were not there at the time, and they also failed to call back. When getting a quote in the beginning, the designer wouldn't give me a general price until I invested many hours picking out all of the exact cabinets, counter-top, etc. Several times she left me in the shop to pick out fixtures by myself while she ran off to another appointment. Be sure to shop around for such a costly endeavor!!
15 years ago we gutted our kitchen and we went to Allen Kitchen Gallery and had a great experience. Recently we decided to update the kitchen, getting rid of the Corian and white appliances. We also wanted to additional cabinetry and needed end panels for the new taller fridge. Of course 15 years later we can't get an exact match for the doors. Renee was absolutely great at helping me pick a door very close to what we had. Fast forward to cabinet delivery. Cabinets don't match existing cabinets and I freak out. I was going away and I told my husband to handle it. He calls me the next day and tells me that Allen would be happy to switch out the doors to something I want. He was also told that when I chose the doors it was pointed out to me they wouldn't match. As he was telling me this I remembered the whole conversation had with Renee about the doors not matching and it would be ok because they would not be side by side. I recommend Allen Kitchen Gallery because the quality of the cabinets is fantastic. I recommend Renee because even when she had to deal with a delusional client she was professional and accommodating. I also want to point out both times cabinets were delivered on time. Both times my projects were completed on time.
This company's name should be Allen Kitchen Nightmares. The woman running this place Ellen Allen has no regard for the customer and is only concerned with getting payments. This company will cut corners anywhere they can, all they care about is their bottom line. The project was supposed to take 6-7 weeks took 13 weeks to complete. The subcontractors hired are incompetent, I am assuming they work cheaper than competent ones. The interior designer Barbara was the most incompetent and unprofessional person I have ever encountered in any business anywhere. She refused to write anything down and her favorite line was "I thought I told you..." She would pretend to have told my wife something if challenged that she hadn't told us something and vice versa. This behavior happened on a weekly basis. This woman has a penchant for lying as the story for delays would change on a weekly basis. The standard Anderson window was mis-ordered and we were told it would take 6 weeks to get the correct window, this is a standard window! After demanding this was unacceptable she was magically able to get this window in 2 weeks and acted as though she did us a giant favor. The contractor didn't bother to measure when putting the island in so that the island counter top did not line up properly. The solution recommended was to cut the countertop by 4 inches and for some reason Barbara expected that we would pay for this additional cost to cut despite the fact that this was their mistake. Like most issues on the project this was an argument based on who whould pay the cost and when Barbara didn't like what she was hearing she would just hang up the phone. OVer the course of this project this woman managed to be away for two seperate one week vacations. In those instance Barbara was completely unavailable, would not even return emails. Well, at least she had a functioning kitchen. The tile guy literally disappeared for two weeks and when he finally finished the floor and tile backsplash it was such a mess that we needed to hire our own independent tile person to fix the mess that he had left. This led to more price negotiations as stated previously this company is not interested in customer satisfaction only the money they could collect. At one point , Barbara asked that the final payment be made so she could close out the account even though the project wasn't completed, I guess she figured she had built up all that good will and trust. In retrospect, we should have fired this company and sued for the cost. There were numereous other issues. Dealing with Allen Kitchen's was a daily headache. This company made kitche renovation which is already inconvenient just a daily drudgery. This company's business practices leave a lot to be desired. It's 2016, however this company can't figure out how to take a credit card payment over the phone. These two women went out of their way to make our lives inconvenient at every turn. If you choose to hire this company just know that this is the type of service that you can expect.
I have had Don Allan and his crew of professional contractors do three kitchens for me. One is better than the next. I cannot say enough great things about Allan Kitchen Gallery In Canton Ma. You owe it to yourself to see their showroom. You will be blown away by the unique displays and kitchen options. You will walk out feeling like you got a one in a million kitchen, that is no one Else's
