Allan Kitchen Gallery is a cabinet showroom first. Don and Ellen Allan have run it on Turnpike Street in Canton since the early 1990s, describing a business built "one cabinet at a time over the past 30 years," and BBB records a one-employee corporation with Ellen M Allan as president. What they sell is cabinetry — Medallion and Luxor lines, custom kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, cabinet doors — designed and installed.
They do more than sell it. BuildZoom's file shows 56 permitted projects between 2014 and 2025, almost all kitchen remodels covering cabinets, countertops and flooring plus some bathroom work, running from roughly $2,875 to $60,000, in Brookline, Needham, Braintree, Milton, Wellesley, Newton, Boston and Easton. Their Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 115167, is active, and BuildZoom additionally lists an active construction supervisor licence.
The written history is where things get complicated, and it stops early: the newest account on file dates to October 2020. The good ones read well. A customer writing in 2010 said Don Allan and his crew had done three kitchens for them, each better than the last, and pointed newcomers to the showroom displays. A 2017 reviewer came back fifteen years after their original kitchen gut to update the same room, adding cabinetry and end panels sized for a taller refrigerator. A 2018 customer who remodeled both a kitchen and a bathroom called the service generally okay and had praise for the construction crew, while noting that the custom cabinets they themselves had specified pushed the finish date out.
Then there is May 2016. A reviewer that month wrote a pointed account accusing the woman running the business of caring more about collecting payments than about the customer, and the company of cutting corners where it could. It is a single review, a decade old, and it stands alone in the written record — but it is specific, and it sits beneath a Google average of 3.9 across nine ratings, lower than the five-star accounts alone would imply. BBB, for its part, does not accredit the business and lists it as Not Rated, saying it has insufficient information.
For cabinetry — a showroom visit, a design, a Medallion or Luxor kitchen fitted — this is a long-running Canton business with an active registration and a genuine permit trail behind it. Ask for references from jobs finished in the past year or two, and get the change-order terms and payment schedule written down before you sign, because that is exactly where the one serious complaint on file landed.
