Houzz and HomeAdvisor list that same street address under the name Alpha Painting, with the same Massachusetts home improvement contractor number, and describe a painting business: interior and exterior work, staining, powerwashing, wallpaper removal, plaster and drywall repair. The painting side is where actual jobs show up. Houzz carries 13 posted projects — interiors and exteriors in Boxford, Andover and West Newbury, and one up the coast in York, Maine — with typical jobs put between $1,000 and $50,000-plus. The company describes itself there as a second-generation family painting business established in 1987, working from Boston to southern Maine. Reputation is where it gets thin. Four Houzz ratings average 5.0, alongside one Houzz award and two badges. HomeAdvisor and Angi both show the painting profile as a new pro with nothing written about it, and BuildZoom has no reviews either. Four ratings and no accounts of the work is not much to weigh. On registration, BuildZoom lists Massachusetts home improvement contractor number #181871 and says it checked that number as active in March 2026 — the directory's own check, not a state confirmation. It also shows an earlier registration, #166458, as inactive and at one point cancelled. The tenure claims don't line up either: 1987 on Houzz, a "41 years of experience" highlight on HomeAdvisor, and "over 20 years" in that same HomeAdvisor blurb. If you're calling about painting, that is the work the projects and service lists actually describe. Before signing, ask which entity goes on the contract and which registration number covers it, check #181871 yourself with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and ask for a few recent local references — the public review history is too short to lean on.
