Annese Electrical Services is the electrical subcontractor on the other side of a public bid — schools, wastewater treatment plants and institutional buildings across Eastern Massachusetts. Its permit file on BuildZoom runs to 123 projects, twelve of them in the last three years, in Brookline, Randolph, Falmouth, Malden, Hingham, Maynard and Milton, at typical permit values around $575,000. Deb and Joe Annese founded the Weymouth company, which says it remains family owned and operated and works as a union shop with IBEW Local 103. Its Massachusetts electrical business licence, number 1077, is active, and the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office has its Women Business Enterprise certification on file as active until January 2029. It also holds DCAMM certification in electrical, alarm and telecommunication systems and belongs to NECA's Boston chapter. What the work looks like comes mostly from trade coverage. A 2017 article described the team installing power, data connectivity and cable management throughout the library at Fitchburg State. BBB's file adds fire alarm installation, HVAC control wiring and yearly testing and maintenance alongside the electrical subcontracting, and records the business as starting in 1990 with 45 employees. Two things are worth knowing before you call. The residential paperwork is not current: BuildZoom lists the company's home improvement contractor registration as inactive and at one point cancelled, alongside a stack of inactive certificates of clearance. And two sources disagree about the shop — BBB calls it open shop, while the company's own site says union — which matters if a project's labour agreement does. Older reports show how it works the public-bid side of the trade. In 2000 it sued the city of Newton over the resolicitation of electrical subbids for a public building project, and a 2002 business-journal item reported it joining two other Weymouth contractors in a suit alleging a city broke competitive-bidding law. This is a call for institutional and public-sector electrical work rather than house wiring; a homeowner should ask first whether it takes residential jobs, and under which registration.
