Aptive Pest Control's Foxborough listing sits on top of a genuinely enormous record — 608 reviews since 2021, a 4.4-star Google average across 1,874 ratings, and a BBB page graded A+. But read past the aggregate and the written reviews split sharply: in the last six months alone, 29 of 76 new reviews were negative, and several describe the same specific failure mode again and again — getting billed for work that was never actually done. One 2026 review says a credit card was charged for a second treatment that no technician ever showed up for. Another describes a worker who parked outside for two minutes, never got out of the van, and left — followed the next day by a charge for the visit. A third says two mouse traps were set, a promised flea-and-tick spray never happened, the account kept getting charged anyway, and cancelling would have cost an extra $199. A fourth describes being billed for three months of service after a single visit. These read as independent accounts, months apart, describing the same pattern rather than a single unhappy customer. Door-to-door sales come up almost as often, and not favorably: one 2026 reviewer reports the same rep trying their address twice despite posted no-soliciting signs and threatens to call police on a third attempt; another describes a sales rep asking to use their yard as a bathroom. A different review says a technician sprayed the wrong house "accidentally" and never told the owner — it only came out because the owner asked. One more says a technician left a side gate open after a visit, and the homeowner's dog nearly got loose. None of this happens in isolation. Reddit threads from around the country — not Massachusetts specifically, but describing the same national company that expanded into the state in 2021 — tell a strikingly similar story: a forged contract signature, a rat-poison bait station left open near a family's kids and dogs, salespeople refusing to leave when told to, and a "predatory" sales model that one poster who says they work in the pest-control industry described as lying about services to get signatures then overcharging and underdelivering. Against that, the record isn't uniformly bad. A number of the same recent reviews single out individual technicians — Haddon, Lewis, Calvin, and others — for clear communication, photo documentation, and answering every question before starting. For a homeowner weighing Aptive, the field service some customers get looks genuinely fine; the risk sits mostly with the sales process and the billing that follows it. Read the contract terms carefully before signing at the door, and keep an eye on the account statement after the first visit.
“I have been using active for a little bit. The guy who originally came out, promised the world and I unfortunately believed him what started off sounding like a really good idea. Started to turn when every windy day they couldn’t do a lot of stuff because of risk. This summer I have noticed more colonies than ever and they stated that it’s because there are more ant colonies and did not attempt to do anything other than put something on the side of the house. I finally had enough and called to get my stuff canceled. She said I would be charged more due to cancellation. I then asked am I really”
“**Do Not Use This Company!** **Aptive** left one of their rodent bait stations wide open with rat poison exposed. I have children and grandchildren who with me, as well as two dogs. Any one of them could have gotten into that poison. One of my dogs started vomiting repeatedly—about 10 times within 24 hours. I went outside to search the yard to see what may have caused this illness as my dog is less than 5 years old and in good health. That's when I found Aptive's rodent bait station on the side of my house sitting wide open with the poison fully accessible. Instead of simply monitoring my d”
“The local Aptive branch near me is very predatory in how they handle business. They lie or deceive people about how their services work, get folks to sign contracts and then over-charge and under-deliver.”
“Saw a job opening and potentially interested in applying for aptive environmental.”
“They’re soliciting in the Walnut Grove Lake area tonight. One wouldn’t leave my property after being explicitly told to leave. We had to threaten calling the police. PLEASE do not do business with these people! ”

The first treatment went well, however, the second month my credit card was charged for the second treatment and they never came out to do the second treatment. This is completely unacceptable!
We been having an issue with black ants on our deck.
Haddon was excellent in his duties. He clearly explained me all the steps during treatment of my house.
The gentlemen, who did my house today was fantastic. Let me know his arrival time when he arrive. Asked if I had any problems. Quickly went to work very efficiently, let me know when he was done, very polite need and clean and knowledgeable. Great service.
After the technician left, I let our dog outside, unaware that the technician had left the gate wide open. Thankfully I went out with the dog so was able to get him back inside before he realized the gate was open. Very irresponsible and thoughtless of the technician to not close the gate as he found it, especially since we also have a young son.
