Arseneau Construction has drawn praise for an attic remodel and a detailed complaint about a wood floor. Those written accounts date to 2020 and 2022. The company describes its services on BBB as residential and commercial construction, remodeling, and cellulose insulation. In a November 2020 Google review, a customer said the attic remodel involved many tight spaces and praised how the job turned out. They recommended the company and said they looked forward to hiring it again. A January 2022 Google reviewer described a different experience with flooring. They said the floor began separating after two years, with gaps large enough to fit a pencil. According to that customer, the installation instructions called for nails or staples at least every six inches, but they observed spacing of 12–16 inches. They also alleged that the crew used a glue the manufacturer had not recommended and left numerous glue stains on the boards. The customer said the flooring manufacturer attributed the separation to the installation methods. These allegations concern the installation described in that review. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration associated with the business, number 138372 in John Arseneau’s name, is expired. Google averages 3.8 stars from four ratings, while BBB gives the company an A+ grade. Berkshire Magazine has also named Arseneau Construction among local contractors.

Flooring manufacturers instructions were not followed by Arseneau construction resulting in floor separation after only 2 years! The installation instructions, which I handed to Jason Arseneau before he started, clearly stated that the floor needed to be nailed/stapled at a minimum of every 6 inches and my floor is nailed between 12-16 inches! After two years my floor is separating in many spots (happy to provide pictures). In addition to not following the nailing instructions they also did not follow the glueing instructions. The flooring manufacture listed two specific glues to use and they used a different glue that was not on the recommended list. They used pl400 which has no flexibility, it dries, hardens, then cracks making the glue useless in flooring installation applications. I called the flooring company and they asked about nail spacing and which glue I used. I informed them about the nail spacing because I can see it due to the boards separating and also the glue type. They then told me that the instructions were not followed and the glue is useless and that I'm going to continue to have this problem! They also offered to send me hundreds of pictures of their floors that got installed properly and have no separation. So now I have this beautiful custom floor that was not installed properly and is now separating in many places. Not only is the floor separating but we also have about a dozen silver dollar sized glue stains on our floor from them dropping glue on the floor boards. We paid good money to have this floor installed only to see such poor craftsmanship after only two years is extremely disappointing. It's one thing to pay good money and have something be perfect and another to pay good money and get a sub par product in return. All Arseneau construction cared about was getting in here and out of here as fast as possible to make as much money as possible with no regard to the quality of work being done. If your building a wood shed maybe these guys can do it but if you have finish work to be done, hire a real craftsman!!! Here are just a couple photos to show how bad they are separating. These are just four pictures, I could probably take at least a dozen more pictures of boards separating and glue stains. I can put a pencil in the gaps when there should be no gap!!!
Hired them for an attic remodel I was doing. They did a great job and it wasn't easy as there were many tight spaces to get into. I highly recommend them and look forward to future work.
