Project: 400 Sq Ft addition (deep crawl space with a concrete floor). Homeowners are subcontracting all work. I was looking for a local concrete company with lots of experience building foundations for additions. There aren't many choices. Most concrete shops build patios and stairs, or they are part of a much bigger company. Those I could find had little in the way of reviews (one reason why I am writing here). I contacted Peter at Ashland Construction Company when I found that our town lists them as go-to contractors for DPW projects -- the best stamp of approval I could find. Peter studied my plans, examined the work site, and immediately offered a firm price. The only potential add-ons were the possibilities of unforeseen excavation issues and whether or not he would need a concrete pump (neither add-on was needed). They happened to be finishing up a project nearby and were available right away. Except for waiting on the town's inspections, they were here every workday, and were done in four weeks, soup-to-nuts (backfilled and ready for framing). My drawings showed what I wanted to build, and a surveyed plot plan showed that my plan would meet our town's zoning setback requirements. Based on these drawings, Peter's company built the foundation to code with a massive footing, a deep layer of crushed stone and multi-layered vapor barrier under the concrete floor, and more rebar than the minimum. The company is a multi-generational family-owned business. They own all of their own equipment (except concrete delivery trucks and pumps), and they have this down to a well-oiled system. In fact, Peter *the owner* personally guided the concrete into the stem wall forms (no bloated corporate overhead). For this reason, the cost was substantially less than my own estimate (which assumed rented equipment and lots of subcontracted work). The team is friendly and totally professional, and all in all, I am very happy with the entire experience.

Punctual, responsive and fair. I hired Ashland Construction to do some overdue demo work for me. I quickly had a price quote and was easily able to schedule the work. While the work was being done, my 91 year old father decided to introduce himself and to tell the crew how he wanted things done. They took the time to talk to him, learn he was a Vet, respond to his requests, all while keeping the work going and getting done on time. Can't praise Peter's crew enough for the work they did and how they handled my dad. Will 100% recommend and use again.
