Atlantic Coast Fence has been putting up fence in the Merrimack Valley since long before most of its competitors existed, and it builds much of what it sells rather than reselling box-store panels. That, more than price, is what its customers keep coming back to. The Amesbury company works out of Route 110 and sells and installs fencing for residential, commercial and industrial customers, with its own site claiming more than 53 years across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. Its Better Business Bureau profile tells it differently, listing 66 years since 1960 and 15 employees, at an A+ grade and non-accredited. The strongest work stories are about hard sites and custom fabrication. This spring a homeowner had a long run of rotted fence pulled and replaced along a sloped property line, and singled out how level and aligned the new run came out, with the crew clearing brush around it before leaving. Over the past couple of years, the pattern is consistent: a site walk and design conversation up front, panels built in-house, and installations that match what was discussed — cedar, vinyl, black aluminum, guard rail. The rating is not spotless, and the gap matters. Google sits at 4 stars across 26 ratings, and the sharpest complaint on the page is recent: an April review warning others about the company and pointing squarely at its manager's professionalism, without detailing the job. An earlier reviewer described a process that started with a fine consultation and a reasonable contract price and then deteriorated from there. Set against a long run of five-star installs, that reads less like bad workmanship and more like a communication problem that surfaces on some jobs and not others. So the thing to pin down is the middle of the project, not the ends. Get the contract to spell out the schedule, who your point of contact is, and what happens if materials or dates slip, and ask now — before the deposit — how changes and delays get communicated. Several reviewers name the person who handled their quote and site visit; knowing who owns your job is worth asking for by name. For custom-built cedar, vinyl or aluminum fence on an awkward lot, this is a credible local shop with real fabrication capability behind it. Just go in with the process written down.

Keeping my comments to myself for respect for the Amesbury community at large, but beware of this company, and more specifically their manager - clearly professionalism is not a standard here.

Atlantic Coast did great work removing and replacing a long section of rotted out fence along our property line. The entire length was at a slope and they did a beautiful job keeping it level and aligned. They even did some brush clearing around it to keep everything neat and tidy. Would definitely recommend and will be calling them again when we need fence work done.

Atlantic Coast has a great fence "team". From sales, walk through of property, pricing options, variety of product (built by them and far superior in quality to box stores) to the quality of installation work. We will be planning to do more work with them in the future. Honestly, a pleasure working with such a good team!

I had shopped around my fence to get better pricing and finally called Jessica at Atlantic since they had put up most of the fencing in our yard. The good news was the vinyl fencing was on sale at the time and she promptly came out and measured and I had her take a look at some stockade sections and she told me which ones needed to be replaced. They were there the following week and my fence looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Plus, I got to throw it on a credit card which was key. They were slightly less expensive than everyone else and did a better job!!! I am calling them back to replace more stockade sections!
