"I have been a loyal Atlantic customer for the past 40 years," one Google reviewer wrote in April 2026, after a seasonal maintenance visit from Luis Hernandez. Atlantic is a Brookline HVAC company that says Joe Iorio, Sr. started it in 1962 and that his son Joe Jr. later expanded it into air conditioning and wet heat. It remains family-owned by its own account, and works across Boston, Brookline, Newton, Cambridge and nearby towns on heating, cooling, air quality and custom ductwork, with 24/7 emergency repair. The Google page carries 378 ratings averaging 4.9, and many of this spring's reviews are about the annual tune-up and the people who do it. Emerson is named again and again, for thoroughness and for explaining his work as he goes; one April 2026 customer singled out how meticulously he cleaned the units and condenser. Luis is credited for patient explanations and for fixing the problem. Installs and repairs show up too: a mini split in June 2026 by a crew the customer named as Corey and Sergo, and in May 2026 a technician named Ricardo who worked through every fault in a Runtal system that would not start or shut down properly. In November 2025, a customer credited a team with sorting out a complex steam boiler problem on schedule, and in June 2025 the owner of Karalis Construction praised a large crew on a demanding Brookline remodel. One March 2026 reviewer spelled out how service calls are billed: a $225 diagnosis visit with a one-hour minimum, charged separately from the repair, and the diagnosing technician did not seem to carry spare parts, so the fix came on a second visit. That same customer said the whole thing moved fast, with the repair done the same day they asked for a quote, and that nobody tried to sell them a $25K-plus system. The complaints date from 2022 to 2025. A September 2025 reviewer said they were billed $325 for a plumber who, by their account, did nothing: they had already shut off the water and stopped the leak before he came. An August 2025 customer described a booking process that demanded photo after photo of their units, an email headed "POTENTIAL PHISHING", and being copied on another customer's personal information. In March 2024, a boiler maintenance customer said the technicians left old parts and an emptied bottle of their fabric softener on the floor. And in June 2022, a long-time customer said a heating fault persisted through repeated visits, a service manager shouted and was verbally abusive when they disputed the bill, and the owner never returned their calls. On Reddit in January 2025, one commenter said Atlantic is not cheap and that some techs are better than others. Its Massachusetts HVAC license is active.
