Atlantic-Pratt Energy is the heating-oil and HVAC outfit South Shore homeowners call when a tank starts leaking or a furnace won't fire up on the coldest night of the year. The company says it's been run by the Nogueira family for four generations, tracing more than a century of service — a detail an independent oil-delivery directory repeats as well. It works out of Quincy Ave in Braintree and says its territory runs from Boston down to Plymouth, taking in Duxbury, Dedham, Quincy, and Weymouth along the way. On Google, 74 ratings average 4.7 stars, and the most recent reviews back that up more often than not. In February, a customer with a leaking 1920s-era oil tank in Quincy had Joe and his crew cut the old tank in half to get it out through narrow cellar steps and swap in a smaller replacement — finished in a single day, with the next oil delivery arriving the following morning. A January five-star review was shorter on detail, just a flat recommendation for the customer service. Not every recent account is glowing. In May, a longtime customer who praised the delivery drivers said an office staff member named Christine was rude enough on the phone that they switched providers over it — worth flagging, since with an outfit this size the person who answers the phone matters almost as much as the crew doing the work. Separately, pricing isn't posted anywhere online; one fuel-comparison site notes you have to call in for the current per-gallon rate rather than see it listed. For routine oil delivery, tank swaps, and furnace or AC repair anywhere in the South Shore/Plymouth County corridor, five years of Google history and dozens of ratings make this a known quantity rather than a gamble. Worth asking upfront: today's per-gallon price, and who on staff you'll be dealing with if phone service is a concern.

I've always had a great experience with their drivers delivering our oil. Almost always on time & friendly! Christine in the office, on the other hand, is incredibly rude & impersonable. I've never been spoken to like that over the phone from an employee, never mind from a company that we have spent a lot of money with. I've unfortunately switched services & will not return due to her demeanor.

We had a old oil tank in the cellar that was leaking oil in our 1920's Quincy house. Joe at Atlantic Pratt came days after I called and he and his crew removed the old tank. Due to the age of the house and the narrow steps, they had to cut the tank in half to remove it. They then installed a new, smaller tank that was best for our situation. This was all done in one day! The next day we received our oil delivery (kind of a high rate, hence the 4 stars) but we are so happy with the attentiveness Joe gave us and the quick response!

For over a decade the crew at Atlantic Pratt have provided us with phenomenal service. Whenever we need something, they are on it! We highly recommend Atlantic Pratt for oil & service. A family owned and customer centric company that keeps us coming back, year after year.

I recently reach out to Atlantic Pratt oil regarding their delivery services and price, especially (for me) in light of significant order I was considering a loyal customer. Unfortunately, my experience with their service has been quite disappointing.
I called four times to inquire about the reason behind their pricing, which I found to be considerably high than that of other competitors in the market. During all my calls, I was assure that the owner would call me back to discuss my concern, but I never received that call. This lack of follow through added to my frustration, leaving my question unanswered.
Additionally, the pricing for the services offered seemed excessively high, particularly given my status as a loyal customer. I expected more transparency and support, especially for me what I consider dealing with a large order.
Over all I had a great work relations with this company, but lately my experience with Atlantic Pratt oil Company services has been unsatisfactory and disappointing. The lack of communication and clarity regarding pricing has led me to reconsider my future business with them. I hope they can improve their customer service and responsiveness, as it is critical to retaining loyal customers. Until then, I am inclined to explore other option.
