Burke Oil is a family-run heating oil delivery and service company based in Quincy, MA, with several decades in business — BBB lists 34 years, and Angi's profile cites 41 years of experience in oil heating system installation and repair. The written record splits sharply along two lines. On one side, customers who dealt with individual technicians and drivers describe fast, capable work: a 2024 review credits a technician named Jim with quickly restoring heat and explaining the repair, a 2025 review thanks Pat Burke and a technician named Johnny for repeated accommodating service, and a 2025 review praises a dispatcher named Maddie for arranging same-day delivery when the customer was nearly out of oil. Emergency and low-oil situations are the pattern in the strongest reviews — coming through with next-day delivery, or same-day help on a cold snap. On the other side is a long, detailed run of complaints, spanning 2022 through 2026, about how the office handles scheduling, billing and disputes. Multiple reviewers describe rude or confrontational phone interactions, several naming "Mrs. Burke" or the owner's wife directly. Others report missed or delayed delivery windows — including prepaid, guaranteed dates that were not honored — and billing problems such as being charged more per gallon than quoted or waiting over a month for a promised refund. A 2026 review describes a delivery driver damaging a driveway and the company denying responsibility; a 2022 review describes an oil tank cap left off, leading to water in the tank, with responsibility again denied. A separate 2026 review reports a company driver merging erratically and nearly causing a highway collision. The two most recent reviews on file, both from early 2026, are negative — the driveway-damage complaint and the erratic-driving report. Anyone considering Burke Oil should weigh the consistent praise for its field technicians against an equally consistent thread of complaints about the office's handling of scheduling, billing and disputes, and should get delivery windows and per-gallon pricing confirmed in writing before committing.
Erratic driving on 93 South before exit 15. April 30 2026 -908 am. Merging from right lane of highway into center almost hitting 2 cars. Absolutely careless and frightening this individual works with oil and gas.
I want to let everyone know that this company is terrible, the driver who delivered my oil on March 11th 2026 in Randolph he parked his huge truck in my drive way and, damaged my driveway. when I called the company Mrs Burke was extremely rude to me, she denied that he damaged my driveway, yelled at me, shouted, take me to court and hung up the phone. Very disrespectful woman. Look at the photos of my driveway that the truck driver did to my driveway. my neighbor has camera around the premises that shows what he did in real time. I am taking these insolent people to court
DO NO USE THEM!!!! This would be my 3rd time using this company and I cannot begin to say how disrespectful the two women they have operating the phones are! I ordered from Wednesday for a Saturday delivery. I practiced due diligence and called Saturday morning to confirm a time slot. I was told none can be given citing, they will get to me whenever. Night has fallen, no delivery. I call back only to be told I did not call and the woman proceeded to tell me they will come Monday, speaking over me and when I rebuffed, hung up in my ears! I called back and she repeated the same behavior. Who really employs these people. Is this how a company wants to be perceived and represented in the public domain!??? Just know I took note….
Dependable people and fast service.
DO NOT use this company. I prepaid for oil and was given a guaranteed delivery date. I called three times on the scheduled day to confirm and was told each time that delivery was still expected. Instead of help, I was told to “be patient” by a rude operator. It is now almost midnight, temperatures are extremely cold, and my oil was never delivered. This was unacceptable given that payment was made in advance and the delivery was guaranteed Edit: In the owners reply to my original he states not all the facts may be known. However, as you can see by the uploaded picture, my oil tank still sits at empty. This is now Saturday at 9:00 am.
