The thing that keeps showing up in reviews of Atmosphere Painting & Plastering is the second phone call. Five of the fourteen written accounts come from customers hiring Vanildo again — one in June 2026 for a ceiling repair after working with him many times, another in a May 2024 review on their third job with him over many years. Vanildo runs the Medford outfit out of 114 Willis Ave, and the Angi and HomeAdvisor listings — which carry the same 20 reviews and the same 5.0 average — put him at 21 years in the trade. What customers describe is painting with plaster and drywall underneath it: a 2x3 hole patched and the popcorn texture redone in a June 2026 job, plaster cracks fixed for a returning HomeAdvisor customer in a 2020 review, a drywall job a March 2023 reviewer called reasonably priced and on time. Several reviewers make a point of the timing. A 2021 customer wrote that the crew came out quickly to look, gave an accurate and reasonable estimate, then showed up exactly on time — a few minutes early, in fact — on both days the work took. A 2017 reviewer described a two-day job: one day mostly prep, the second day painting. In a 2020 review, a South End condo owner listed two jobs years apart — patching, plastering and painting a ceiling that had to be opened up in November 2017, then ceilings, walls and trim in December 2019. The written history runs from 2014 to 2026, and six of those accounts predate 2021, so a good share of what you are reading describes older work — the 2014 reviewer's plaster and paint work on a Medford two-family, for one. For an interior repaint where the walls or ceilings need real plaster or drywall work before any paint goes on, this is the small outfit that shape of job calls for: the owner on site and named by name in most of the written accounts, and the same customers coming back. Get the estimate in writing, and ask what the prep day covers — the 2017 reviewer's job spent a full day on prep before painting started.
We needed a big ceiling repair. Since we have worked with Atmosphere painting and plastering so many times and liked his work. We had him do this one, too. We needed to patch a 2x3 whole and do the popcorn on it. As usual, great communication, quick and clean and professional. Reasonable charge.
Vanildo and team did an excellent job!! He is very courteous and professional. I would not hesitate to use his painting services again!
From start to finish Vanildo was unbelievable, conscientious, efficient, and clean work. Always accessible and quite knowledgeable. The value of product and service is above and beyond.
Very open communication, super easy to work with, super accommodating for specific requests outside of the normal work requested and terrific quality of work and very efficient!
This is the 3rd time we worked with Vanildo over many years. Not only it's always pleasant working with him and his team, but it's also always a great value with Vanildo, too. We actually have somewhat of a bigger project for him. He is responsible for the painting and wall/ceiling repair in a bigger kitchen project. Basically, others come to tear down walls and poke wholes in my popcorn ceilings and he has to repair and patch all that and paint over 3 ceilings, 3 walls in the living/dining area (color matching the existing walls) and paint a whole kitchen. The job took two days to repair and prep and then paint. They tried their best to cover up all my furniture and belongings, and the floor to prevent paint and plaster falling on them. Even if there were little bits sprayed or splashed outside, as long as you see them, he's always willing to clean up humbly. He told us he can't see everything, so if we see something just let him know, he'll correct it. We love his humble attitude, and that's partly what makes him so easy to work with. Even after 2 days, when we saw something not working the way we expected, I took a picture, sent it to him, he responded right away and scheduled ASAP to come and fix the problem. We highly recommend Vanildo's service, we think it's quality work at great value.
