Axel Carpentry and Painting is a Waltham operation that, by its own listing, has been at it about five years — and the work described in its reviews backs up a genuine range: framing and finish carpentry, painting, flooring, and even roofing. The clearest picture comes from a February 2024 review describing a full one-bedroom apartment remodel: new cabinets, countertops, flooring, a vanity, appliances, tile, and a glass shower door, plus a full paint job and hauling away the old stuff — all, the homeowner said, on-time and within budget. Another review from the same month credits the crew with building new decks, replacing a roof, and remodeling a third floor, again always on time and doing exactly what was agreed. A March 2024 reviewer — part of a condo association board — specifically called out how the crew handled the mixed opinions of board members, calling the customer service superior. Across the four reviews on file, all from February and March 2024, the rating is a clean 5 stars on both Angi and HomeAdvisor, and every account describes a similar pattern: reliable scheduling, broad trade range, and satisfied repeat customers (one reviewer mentions hiring Axel again for other projects). One thing worth asking about directly: BuildZoom cites Massachusetts's Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation registry showing the company's Home Improvement Contractor registration, number 209714, as inactive — cancelled, with a listed expiration of September 2025. That's worth confirming before signing a contract, since Massachusetts requires an active HIC registration for most home improvement work. For someone with a multi-trade job in mind — carpentry, painting, flooring, even a roof or a full apartment gut — the reviews point to a crew that shows up, sticks to the plan, and handles more than one trade at once. Just get the registration status squared away first.

Axel and his guys were awesome. He did new decks, our roof, and 3rd floor remodel. He was always on time and did exactly what we agreed to. Very professional and we will always think of him and his crew when we need any work done.
Axel and his team are some of the hardest working people I have ever seen. He remodeled our 1 bedroom apartment in waltham. They installed cabinets, countertops, floors, vanity, appliances, tiles, glass shower door, painted the whole place and even removed unwanted items. He gives ideas and works within your budget! We also used him for numerous other projects because we liked his work so much. They were always on-time and worked for hours everyday to complete the jobs in a quicker time period. Highly recommend!!
