In a July 2022 review, a homeowner who needed a few Ikea cabinets fitted into a kitchen said most general contractors won't touch a job that size. Lucas did, and worked through a tricky install. A March 2025 customer told the same story from the other end: a small job slotted in between larger ones, at a price they called fair. That willingness is half of what people write about Triple Beam. The other half is the carpentry the name promises. In September 2024 a Somerville triple decker had five old, rotting porches replaced with composite ones, the owner noting a competitive price and mid-project changes accommodated. A November 2025 client had a deck replaced and said Lucas was upfront about the timing and the stages; a May 2025 customer had a deck built and an old basement door replaced, and singled out the frequent updates. A June 2023 reviewer whose deck went in the previous fall said the job finished on time and inside budget once permitting was done. Triple Beam is a veteran-owned Somerville company, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. The work reaches well past decks: an April 2025 client had an aging four-unit apartment building renovated, a September 2024 homeowner had an extensive attic renovation, an October 2024 reviewer's parents had a roof finished in under two days, a May 2026 customer had bay windows replaced, and an August 2024 reviewer had exterior painting and siding repair. In a March 2023 account, Lucas built a fire escape and the customer said the crew was on site every day. Two honest notes. A March 2025 customer's new bifold doors had a problem after installation — Lucas came back out and fixed it — and a November 2025 deck client mentioned minor hiccups, addressed immediately. Snags turn up here as anywhere; in both cases the crew returned. And if your job is a small one, expect to be fitted between the bigger ones. For a deck, a porch rebuild, or the odd carpentry job nobody else will schedule, this is a strong call. Ask up front for the stage-by-stage schedule and who handles the permitting.
