Those are two separate facts, and HomeAdvisor blurs them by listing "Better Business Bureu" under memberships and affiliations. The written customer trail is dated: a single four-star HomeAdvisor rating, and it dates to 2015. A long, quiet file is not the same thing as a well-reviewed one. Two things to pin down before calling. BuildZoom states that Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration 163053 expired on 3 May 2025 and lists it inactive — that is BuildZoom's own unverified claim rather than a state confirmation, and the same page prints that one number under two different licence types, which is a directory bookkeeping pattern, not two credentials. Ask for the registration number and check it yourself with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Massachusetts exempts interior-painting-only contractors from HIC registration, but this company also paints exteriors and hangs paper, so the exemption isn't a clean answer here. The second is simply where they are. BBB has them at 110 Jackson St in Methuen, BuildZoom puts that identical street address in Amesbury, and HomeAdvisor lists 6 Central Street in Methuen. HomeAdvisor also claims 56 years of experience against BBB's 51 and its 1975 start date. For a straightforward repaint or a wallpaper job in the Merrimack Valley, this is a long-established two-generation crew with a clean BBB grade. Ask for recent references and confirm the address and licence when you book — the public trail stops in 2015.
