Barrows Excavating's real trail isn't in reviews — it's in septic permits. The Harwich outfit, a sole proprietorship run by Bryan Barrows and started in January 2007 according to its BBB file, has a municipal permit history running 2013 through 2024 and dominated by septic work across the mid-Cape: new installs on Johnson Lane in West Yarmouth and Bertram Avenue in South Dennis in 2024, a remove-and-replace on Loring Avenue in West Dennis, an upgrade on Uncle Zekes Lane, a 2022 repair in East Dennis, and a long run of septic trench permits through South Yarmouth, West Yarmouth and Yarmouth Port going back to 2013. The most visible job was a teardown. The Cape Cod Times reported in April 2023 that Barrows took a few swipes at the roof of the Dockside Restaurant in Hyannis with his Caterpillar excavator and a section of the waterfront venue came apart within minutes; the paper said Shoestring Properties and Stuart Bornstein had hired him for the demolition. Customer writing is scarce. Google carries five ratings averaging 5.0 and one written review, posted February 2026 by an apartment resident in South Yarmouth who called this winter's plowing and salting the best they had seen in 13 years there. The listed work beyond digging covers demolition, trenching, grading and drainage. Two things on the paperwork are worth your attention. BBB does not rate the business — it says it has insufficient information — and it is not accredited. BuildZoom displays a "Verified License" badge but publishes no licence number, type or issuing authority, and its own page tells readers to double-check the licence with the local licensing authority, so that badge carries no weight on its own. For septic work — a new system, an upgrade, or a failed one on a Cape closing deadline — this is someone who has been pulling those permits in Yarmouth and Dennis for over a decade. Ask him directly for licence details and an insurance certificate, and check his recent permit history with your town's board of health before signing.

I live in an apartment complex in South Yarmouth and we have Barrows as a snow removal company. I have never seen such an excellent job of snow plowing in my 13 years of living here as I witnessed this winter with your company. The guys were on point with plowing and salting. They got the whole circle and not just part of it. They are an awesome group of guys and you should be proud of them. My daughter has your company for trash pickup at her house and she is so satisfied with it. Good job!👍👍💯💯
