Bay Custom Homes

Bay Custom Homes is a Middleton-based custom home builder run by Brent McKenelley, with Houzz listing more than 20 years in the building industry and services spanning new home construction, additions, and accessory dwelling units. BuildZoom shows 6 permitted projects and a score in the top half of Massachusetts contractors, and notes the company was verified in 2022 as not needing a state license to build. The written record is thin and dated. A 2015 review described an 8-month custom home build that came in on time and on budget with no delays throughout. A separate 2017 account, from someone describing 15 years working with the company rather than as a customer, praised its professionalism — worth reading with that distinction in mind. More recently, a 2021 Google review said the company took advantage of customers who didn't know the building process well and described the owner as unfriendly. There isn't enough here to draw a confident overall picture — the newest account is from 2021, and the positive record predates it by years. Anyone considering a custom build should ask directly for recent references and a clear look at current project timelines and pricing before signing anything.
