Bay State Bath is a Pembroke company built at scale — 431 reviews since 2020, the kind of volume associated with the TV ads several reviewers mention seeing before calling. It's a family operation: owner Jennifer Bylo and her daughters show up by name across years of reviews, running crews that specialize in one job — tearing out an old tub and building a walk-in shower, often coordinating a plumber, electrician and plasterer in the same multi-day visit. The volume of detail in the record is unusual for a trade this size. Reviewers describe full gut jobs — new flooring, vanity, lighting and toilet alongside the shower — completed with multiple crews handing work off to each other over several days, plumbing rerouted, exhaust fans replaced. One customer describes hiring them for a second full bathroom project after a good first experience; another credits the company with accessible, safety-focused work for aging in place, with grab bars and non-slip flooring installed with care. That said, the record isn't uniform. A recurring theme surfaces across several independent reviews spanning 2023 through 2026: pushy, high-pressure sales tactics, including unwanted early contact and a salesman one reviewer says stormed out after being called on a price discrepancy. Separately, a 2026 review alleges the quoted price for a job rose sharply mid-installation — from an original estimate to thousands more once the work was underway. A handful of 2026 reviews also describe scheduling misses: no-shows on installation dates and missed final inspection appointments that left customers waiting weeks. One 2026 review describes a less experienced installer needing to call the owner for guidance, and says the resulting shower door went on to leak and grow mold. Most of the written record doesn't look like this — the great majority of reviews describe crews that show up on time, communicate well, and leave the bathroom cleaner than they found it, including several who came back for warranty fixes, like a curtain rod placement issue, without argument. But the sales-pressure and pricing complaints repeat often enough, across enough years, to be worth asking about directly: get the full, itemized price in writing before signing, and confirm the installation and inspection schedule up front. Before calling, know that the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is currently listed as expired in the state registry. Its Better Business Bureau profile carries an A+ grade with accreditation and shows 2 complaints on file. Bay State Bath is a reasonable call for a full bathroom gut or a straightforward tub-to-shower conversion, with a track record deep enough to judge by — just go in with a firm, written price and a clear schedule before the crew arrives.
“Loved this project and the company right from the beginning. They were very fairly priced, coming in $7,000 less than the other business we sought for a quote. The crew was great, showed up on time... but there was a problem with the shower doors with a significant scratching noise”
The guys were professional and friendly. Good prep and clean up. The only sticking point was waiting for the town inspectors to show up to finalize the process.
I have a beautiful bathroom now! Thanks to Bay State Bath! They did a tub to shower conversion, also installed a new toilet and sink. Everyone that we spoke with where helpful, knowledgeable and wonderful. The workmen that did the work where efficient and great. Victor and Bruno did a wonderful job in my tub to shower conversion. The result is beautiful.
I had a Complete remodel done. Walk-in shower, new floor, new toilet, new vanity, new mirror, new lighting, new vent fan. The finished result is Amazing!! I enjoy it greatly. When I eventually sell my condo, the new bathroom will definitely generate offers Far faster than the old 1984 fixtures would have.
Crew did a great job on the tub to shower conversion even though few hiccups throughout the installation. I just love my new shower and feel so safe. However the Destination Motivation voucher for a mini vacation was never offered so am not sure why this was included in the first place.
