Bay State Painting & Power Washing is Steve Dietrich's Peabody-based operation — the owner says he has 28 years of experience — doing lead-certified interior and exterior painting plus pressure washing and light carpentry. On Angi, where all 40 of its ratings live, it holds a 4.9★ average with 93% five-star. Recent activity backs that up: seven reviews since February 2026, none negative, describing everything from patio furniture with rust removed and refinished, to a fence painted within a week of the initial quote, to hallway and stairwell repaints with very high ceilings. The pattern holds across earlier years too — in a 2025 review, a homeowner described the crew fixing wall writing, drywall damage, peeling paint and seams during a full interior repaint, then advising on color and sheen choices; a 2023 review detailed exterior work covering power washing, sanding, priming, painting the house, deck and new shutters, plus a gutter replacement and roof flashing. The record isn't spotless. A July 2024 review, the lowest on file at 2 stars, described a job where the crew came without the promised extra helper, got through roughly three-quarters of the house, and then went quiet for about a week when the reviewer tried to follow up about finishing it. A July 2025 review, otherwise positive at 4 stars, said the only shortfall was end-of-project cleanup. Given how consistent the praise is around communication and craftsmanship, and how isolated those two complaints are against 25 written reviews spanning three years, it's worth confirming upfront — in writing — the crew size and finish timeline for a larger job, since that's exactly where the one serious complaint on file went wrong.
Steve was friendly. He laid out the cost beyond labor. He removed rust and painted all the surfaces with rust oleum for a smooth finish and the chairs which are from my family and they have special meanings for me. He did not use electrostatic method which would have had extra costs, as I noted to put extras on whatever electrostatic is and I do not want to prefer to pay that. I went prostatic so he did a good job with the spray painting so it was very well done. He spray painted all the surfaces with rust oleum for a smooth finish. I signed it with JAJ and the reading MA.
Beautiful job paining our hallways and stairwells (with very high ceilings). Very happy with the results and can't wait to do another room in the near future.
I was pleased with Steve Dietrich. He did a good job so did his coworker
Steve and his team were awesome! We had a fence installed that needed to be painted. Steve was really quick to stop by to get us a quote, and the job was done about a week after we confirmed with him. We are really happy with the finished project and will definitely hire them again fir future painting work.
Thank you for the great work. I wish they took credit cards though
