Roofing work for Black Ladder Group means one thing on paper right now: five stars, over and over, across every platform that tracks it. The company says it's been working as a roofing and exterior contractor in MetroWest, Massachusetts since 2019, describing itself as an owner-operated family business. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 205360, is active. Its review history is unusually deep for a roofer this size — 31 reviews since 2022 spread across seven sources, and the same technician keeps showing up in them, spelled Luccas in some reviews and Lucas in others. Reviewers on Google, Thumbtack and Angi describe him walking a property after a job to check for leftover debris, sending progress photos mid-roof, and coming back years later for a follow-up leak repair on a roof his crew had already replaced. A 2025 Thumbtack review describes a team member, Carlos, providing a same-day temporary fix to stop rainwater damage while a full roof replacement was scheduled; a 2023 Google review recounts the crew discovering and repairing rotted sections mid-installation rather than covering them over. The jobs described range from single shingle repairs to full replacements mixing shingle, rubber and metal roofing on one house, with seamless gutters and skylights installed alongside the roof work. One thing worth checking before booking: the company's website states "BBB A+ Accredited," but BBB's own profile for the business currently shows it as non-accredited, with no rating published and no reviews or complaints on file there. The website also states 7 years in business, while BBB's profile lists 4 — worth asking which reflects the current entity. The manufacturer certifications the site lists — VELUX Certified Installer, Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, James Hardie Installer — are the company's own claims rather than something independently verified here. This reads like a small, hands-on roofing crew that has held a loyal MetroWest following for several years running, the kind of company suited to a full re-roof or a stubborn leak rather than a large commercial job. Confirm the BBB status and the certifications directly if either matters to your decision — the roofing work itself is consistently and specifically documented.
Can’t say enough positive things. Black Ladder was not only efficient but honest. The company was prompt and answered all of my questions quickly and professionally. The work product was excellent! I never felt like I was being upsold in fact quite the opposite!! A very trustworthy company that I will continue recommending and doing business with as the need arises!! Thank you!
Lucas is prompt, crew is hardworking and great. Roof was done with great care to the surrounding plants and shrubs around the house. We ended up doing 3 types: shingles, rubber and metal. All 3 came out great. When we got solar panels, the installers stated that the roof was very well done. They work on roofs all day and said the roof was great when they were working up there. Would highly recommend
Luccas helped me with a leak I noticed in my attic. He was very professional, timely, and helpful. I will absolutely be returning to Black Ladder Group for any future roofing needs.
We’ve had a great experience working with Black Ladder Group on several projects. Their team is reliable, professional, and easy to coordinate with. They consistently meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of workmanship, which makes a big difference in the overall success of our jobs. We’re looking forward to continuing this solid partnership on future projects.
We couldn’t recommend this company enough! The communication from the beginning to the very end was great. Pictures were sent while the roof was being worked on to show steps that had been taken and where they were in the process. When the roof was complete, Luccas came and walked around the perimeter of the house to ensure all debris was removed. He took care of the dumpster and ensured it was dropped off/picked up in a timely fashion. We appreciate all of the hard work him and his crew did!
