Blue Bear Plumbing Heating & Air is a Norwell-based company that's grown into one of the busier HVAC-and-plumbing operations on the South Shore — its written record runs to over a thousand reviews since 2024 across six platforms, with a roster of named technicians and a subscription maintenance plan that keeps customers coming back for annual boiler and AC service. Its Massachusetts plumbing license is active, and BBB has it accredited with an A- grade. The volume of praise is specific, not generic: reviewers describe same-day water heater installs, furnaces and tankless systems put in ahead of schedule, and combi-boiler work on Bosch and Navien units. In a September 2025 review, a homeowner described a basement ceiling leak located and fixed within an hour of the call. A recurring thread is responsiveness — the office scheduler gets named repeatedly for squeezing in urgent jobs on very short notice, and several reviewers describe emergency heat or hot water restored the same day they called. What to know before booking: a meaningful minority of reviews describe billing and follow-through problems, not isolated one-offs. In a December 2024 review, a customer said they were charged $523 to replace a leaking shutoff valve, the valve started dripping again that night, and Blue Bear never called back — the customer later had a second valve fixed elsewhere for $175. Another December 2024 review described a $1,000+ bill for two shutoff valves as a rip-off after staff turnover left different technicians on a repeat visit. A recent review said the company dropped the ball on two gas-line projects and had to be chased repeatedly to close out town inspections, and another recent review described disappointment with a toilet-replacement job. In a December 2025 review, a customer said an AC "repair" was followed the next day by flooding in their condo. BBB lists 6 complaints on file. None of this erases the broader record — most of the written history is specific, positive, and recent — but the pattern is worth knowing: get a firm, itemized price before plumbing work starts, and follow up promptly on any inspection or permit that needs closing out.
“For Boiler and AC Cleaning - I think I am paying around $30 a month for Blue Bear and it includes those two services on annual basis, plus other benefits (discounts for repairs, taking you as priority when emergency happen etc.)”
“One of which was Blue Bear Plumbing. (781) 706-4682. I will use them again.”
Today was a semi-annual maintenance of our heat pump and everything was handled smoothly along with a clear explaination of what was being done. Well done!! Bill Howe ps You are asking this before you have sent me my bill so can't answer the last item about price...how much was it?
Kenley was very polite. He checked what was accessible and will come back another time when I make more room to complete the job. We have a subscription with Blue Bear and the maintenance is part of the subscription.
Matt was very professional and knowledgeable. Provided detailed explanation of AC system and reason for my call. Highly recommend
