Tilo Schuttel is a carpenter first, and it shows in what people hire Boston Prime Construction for — custom built-ins, moulding, bannisters, decks, and the trim work inside a bigger renovation. The Marlborough company says Schuttel founded it in 2019 after subcontracting for Boston-area builders, and that it now handles new builds and large renovations for homes and businesses, from foundation and framing through kitchens, baths, flooring, decks and painting. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #206828, is active under the company name, and the site lists a construction supervisor licence as well.
Customers have been writing since 2023 — 5.0 across 26 Google ratings and 5.0 across 24 on Thumbtack — and the jobs they describe get large. A December 2025 reviewer had a kitchen completely rebuilt, cabinets, floors, countertops, backsplash and appliances, and wrote that unlike many contractors, Tilo was responsive and upfront. In March 2026 a family put an addition and renovation through the house while still living in it and called the team respectful of their space. A November 2025 basement finishing job drew the note that the crew cleaned up at the end of every day; a November 2024 basement and custom bookshelf project said the same.
Small work gets the same attention. A February 2025 customer wanted a door dealt with and got it repaired instead of replaced, which saved money. A March 2024 homeowner put out three bids for moulding, got the first quote back from Prime Carpenters, and had it installed within a week at a price they called fair — some 2024 reviewers write about the company under that Prime Carpenters name, and the site says it renamed before taking on direct client projects. A February 2025 Thumbtack customer said the crew covered the furniture, painted, and rehung two wall-mounted TVs when they finished.
Two accounts describe friction. An April 2024 kitchen job — railing, island and cabinets — had what that customer called bumps along the way, though they finished the review calling Tilo professional and genuine. An October 2025 rebuild of an external staircase ran into complexity with the inspection, which the reviewer said was rectified. Those are the questions to raise: how permits and inspections get handled on structural exterior work, and who is actually on site day to day — a December 2025 reviewer singled out his cabinet installer, and a 2024 Thumbtack customer named Elvis on a deck build.
If you want one outfit for a basement, a kitchen or an addition and you care about the carpentry inside it, this is a sensible call. Pin down the schedule and the order of trades before work starts — a February 2024 customer had Tilo working around their own electrician and plumber — and confirm which parts of the job the crew does itself.
