Akor Homes

Akor Homes is a Massachusetts general contracting and finish carpentry business holding an active state Home Improvement Contractor license. Customer reviews consistently name the same person, Gabriel Brito, running the hands-on work — many refer to the business as "GM Home Construction" or "GM Construction," apparently the same operation under an earlier or informal name, with the same style of decks, additions, kitchen and bathroom work, and custom carpentry described throughout. Across reviews from 2019 through early 2026, homeowners consistently praise Gabriel's craftsmanship on detailed carpentry work — custom bookshelves and window seats, staircases, deck rebuilds with arched columns, and full kitchen and bathroom remodels — along with responsive communication, clean job sites, and staying on budget. Several clients report hiring him more than once. One notable exception stands out: a 2022 Angi review describes a very different experience, alleging the job was subcontracted to workers without construction licenses, with no licensed contractor overseeing the work, and that the building inspector failed the work multiple times. This is a serious complaint that sits in sharp contrast to the otherwise consistent, detailed praise naming Gabriel personally. Given that contrast, it's worth confirming directly who will be on-site for the work and getting current references before booking a larger project.
