A homeowner writing in April 2021 got a credit back for a coat of paint that turned out not to be needed. They had not asked for it, and it is the part of the job they chose to write about. Aguimar and his crew come across in those 2020 and 2021 accounts as people who tell you what the work actually requires. Bostonian Carpentry Painting covers the Everett and Somerville area. HomeAdvisor lists a 4.9 average across 24 ratings, 96 percent of them five stars, with ten years in business and Spanish spoken; the BBB page is Not Rated for lack of information, is not accredited, and records eight years in business. The praise is specific. In March 2021 a customer's vaulted walls and ceilings came out flawless, with the crew suggesting changes to the plan along the way and leaving no mess. Another March 2021 customer had exterior work that ran long through heavy rain, and two bathrooms and a leaking closet handled over the winter, and called the finished result excellent. In July 2020 a customer with a section of foundation that had been built wrong said the quote came fast and competitive, the job landed on budget, and everything was cleaned up at the end. Then there is the complaint, and it is a serious one. In January 2021 a customer who owns several properties and has hired contractors in several states called this by far the worst experience they had had; HomeAdvisor's own profile describes that two-star review as an eight-month delay with poor communication on the job. Four percent of the ratings there are two stars. So the timeline is what to nail down: a start date, a completion date, what happens if either slips, and how you get a status update while the work is running. Two other things worth noting — the detailed accounts all date from 2020 and 2021, and the platform service list is very wide, from painting and plastering to roofing, siding, flooring and minor plumbing and electrical, so ask who actually performs the parts of your job that are not painting or carpentry. For interior or exterior painting, plaster and carpentry around Everett and Somerville, Bostonian is a credible call, and the returned paint credit and the on-budget foundation job both say something about how they handle money. Get the schedule and the sub-trade arrangements in writing before anyone starts.
Aguimar was great to deal with. The process was a great experience from the scheduling of the estimate to the completion of the job. They are friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and honest. We even got a credit back for one coat of paint that wasn’t necessary - who does that in today’s world? I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a painter. Call them without hesitation if you are in need of a painter.
Aguimar and his team did excellent work- we could not be more pleased with the results. Due to heavy rain the exterior work took longer than expected, but the finished product is awesome. He also did interior work over the winter, 2 bathroom, and a leaking closet. Also superior work. Highly recommended.
Aguimar and his team were great to work with! Appreciate his recommendations on changes to the job, and the efficiency of his team. My vaulted walls and ceilings look flawless. Definitely recommend Bostonian Carpentry Painting - beautiful work, no mess, on time, and very professional!
I rarely post reviews, and when I do it’s due to good service/product. I own multiple properties and have taken on projects large and small with various contractors in different cities/states. This experience was by FAR the worst I’ve had. This was a job scheduled for completion in 4-6 weeks, instead it was “completed” in 8 months. Yes, 8 months, for two rooms roughly a total of 400-450 sq feet. Amongst my gripes: inexcusable delays, otherworldly disorganization, workers constantly leaving a mess and not removing trash, poor and/or lack of communication with contractor (days, sometimes weeks awaiting an answer), contractor’s lack of consolation with the customer, faulty work, used material and fixtures installed, questionable pricing for auxiliary work, rooms at times unnecessarily used as storage, a lack of listening to customer request, at times workers showing up unsure of what work they were to perform (poor communication again); all in all a dragged out process with at best mediocre end results – rather disrespectful to the property and those residing there. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it, and should’ve went with my gut and cancelled two months into the job…fool me once. Pros: workers and contractor were by and large friendly folks
I needed to fix a section of foundation that hadn't been done correctly and these guys were great. The quote was fast and competitive and they came in on budget. They were very helpful in answering questions during the project and cleaned up everything when they left. Looks great and I would definitely work with them again.
