Brian P. McPherson's name is on 499 building permits, and lately almost all of them are solar. Working out of 61 Grant St in Needham, he pulls electrical permits across the whole state — Methuen, Everett, Wareham, Agawam, Lanesborough — and they are overwhelmingly residential rooftop arrays. Nahant is on that list: a 5.33 kW install at 31 Willow Rd, permitted at the end of July 2025. The volume is real. Sixty-one permitted jobs in the past three years (34 in 2023, 23 in 2024, 4 so far in 2025), a typical permit value around $14,500, and BuildZoom's own breakdown puts him mostly on electrical work with a side of home additions. Two things should give a homeowner pause. The first is the licence. BuildZoom says his Massachusetts electrician licence, #CS-054437, carried an expiration date of 9 July 2026, and that the site confirmed it expired on 23 July 2026 — which is why it scores him 0 and flags "no active license on file". It also lists his construction supervisor records as inactive, noting each was at one point cancelled. None of that is a state verification, but it is specific enough to settle with one call to the Department of Public Safety. The second is the only customer account anyone has written down, and it is a rough one. In a March 2014 review, a homeowner said Brian took most of the money up front for carpentry work, failed to finish what was promised, and filed for bankruptcy once the dispute went legal — the review ends "DO NOT TRUST HIM". That is one voice, twelve years old, and nothing written since either corroborates or contradicts it. If you want rooftop solar wired by someone who does it constantly, the permit trail is the strongest thing going for him. Before signing, get his current electrician licence number and check it yourself, ask for proof of workers' compensation and liability coverage, and be careful about a large deposit up front.
