NEC Electric is a Needham, Massachusetts electrical contractor with a deep, mostly five-star track record running from 2021 through this year across seven review platforms — Best Pick Reports (4.9★, 203 ratings), Thumbtack (5.0★, 27), and Angi and HomeAdvisor (4.4★, 76 each). The work runs from routine repairs to serious rewiring. A 2026 Best Pick Reports review described buying a 125-year-old house that still had knob-and-tube wiring and gas lines in the walls, and having the entire electrical system — panel, capacity, and lighting — brought up to code. Another 2026 review described an EV charger quoted quickly and installed the following week, with the crew calling the work perfect and the install area left clean. Across the years, the same names keep showing up in reviews — Ed, Jay, Keith, Liam, and the crew of Kyle and Tom on the EV charger job — described consistently as knowledgeable, punctual, and easy to work with. A 2025 Reddit post in r/QuincyMa named NEC after the poster compared several quotes, saying they got a better sense the company would be responsive if something went wrong later — the kind of practical reasoning a homeowner comparing electricians would recognize. Not every account is glowing. A 2026 Best Pick Reports review raised a real complaint: the customer was quoted for a labor-intensive process, later learned that time-saving technology had actually been used, and said the company refused to adjust the price when asked, in writing. It's a fair thing to ask about directly — how a quote is built and whether it changes if the job goes faster than planned. The bulk of the written record predates the last six months, so it mostly describes what this company has been like over several years rather than what to expect from a booking made today; the two most recent accounts, from mid-2026, are positive, but there's less current volume to lean on than the all-time numbers suggest. For a straightforward repair or a bigger rewiring job, the history points to a well-established crew that keeps a work site clean and finishes efficiently — it's worth getting the pricing basis in writing up front, particularly if the job might go faster than the initial estimate assumes.
“I got a lot of quotes and ended up going with NEC. They were in the ballpark on price and I got a much better vibe from them that they would be easier to work with and would be responsive if anything goes wrong.”

Very polite and efficient electrician.
We called NEC for an Electric Car charger installation, they came and gave us a quote very quickly and installed the week after!! Kyle and Tom installed our charger and it went perfectly!! They were very professional, careful/clean and friendly!! Everything looks perfect and works well!! I would recommend this company if you need any electrical work!!
Great quality work ! Excellent scheduling. The only thing I'm not happy about and I love to speak to the owner, Is that when we were quoted a price it was based on a very labor intensive process. I had asked about the option of utilization of technologies in order to reduce the labor intensive part of the process, The sales agent told me that wasn't possible, and I have this in writing. The price we paid is based on more labor than what was actually provided because tech technologies were actually used. We asked for a price reduction and it would not be honored. This to me appears to be a deceptive practice and it does not leave a great taste in the customer's Mouth at the end of the day. I would love to speak to the owner of the company about this because I do believe we were significantly over Charged for what we got. Even if we were offered a four to $500 discount that would've been more than enough to cover a Fair arrangement.
It was a pleasant experience from price quote to final installation. Keith arrived on time to look at the scope of work, then provided a timely quotation and reasonable price. The installation was neat, clean and professional. I wound not hesitate to call them again for any electrical work I need.
Excellent experience . Absolute pros. The work was done quickly and neatly.
