Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Budget Exteriors. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

Typical roofing project around $13,800
Five visits, and the roof was still leaking. That is what a homeowner wrote in November 2024, saying the job had left more damage behind than it repaired. Another customer that same month described the same shape of problem on BuildZoom: a roof redone again and again and still not right. In June 2025, a siding customer said the work started a month late and then stalled a second time when the wrong quantity of siding was ordered, leaving the house unsided for weeks. Budget Exteriors sells siding, roofing, windows, porticos, decks and gutters, and markets itself on "factory cost" pricing. Louis Milano runs it. BuildZoom records 223 permitted projects for the company, about 13 of them in the last three years, at a typical permit value near $19,000 and mostly siding and re-roofing, and scores it 89 — the 30th percentile of Massachusetts contractors. The earlier accounts are warmer, and they are mostly about siding. A May 2020 customer described a full tear-off and re-side and named Lou, John and Angel for their follow-up. A March 2020 reviewer had four windows and the related porch carpentry installed and chose the company on price. In October 2023, a homeowner said a three-family on a windy hill was resided and looked good. A March 2025 shopper, still comparing quotes, said John walked them through the process and options in more detail than any other vendor. The credentials are worth checking before a deposit. Directory listings show Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #177704 as active with an April 2026 issue date, and an earlier registration, #161932, recorded as cancelled. BuildZoom also lists the company's EPA renovation certification, NAT-F124500-1, as inactive — that is the federal lead-safe renovation credential, which governs work on any house built before 1978 — and a City of Newton builder licence whose last listed verification expired in August 2022. The company's own site claims more than 25 years of experience, over 5,000 completed projects, and "platinum level installer" status without naming the program, while its Houzz profile carries a self-description as "A rated on Angie's List based on over 100 reviews" that Houzz itself does not corroborate. The platforms disagree: 4.3 stars from 51 ratings on Porch, 5.0 from three Houzz reviews dated 2013 to 2020, 3.0 from two on Google, and 1.0 from the single review on BuildZoom. For siding — the work most of the good accounts describe — put the start date, the material order and the completion date in the contract, with what happens if the material comes up short. For a roof, weigh the 2024 and 2025 accounts of return visits that did not stop the leak, and ask for addresses of roofs finished this year that you can go and see. Confirm the current registration and the EPA lead-safe certification with the agencies themselves before any money changes hands.
The worst experience of my life! Not only did the siding on my house start a month later than expected, they also didnt order the right amount of siding so they left my house unsided for a few weeks. They really lack communication skills. When you call the owner with an issue, he changes the subject and basically tries to talk in circles to avoid the issue. Parts of trim are already falling off after less than 6 months. The doors to our attic on the outside of the house were never completed properly, so with any wind they fly open and slam into the house causing damage. We called to have them fix the issue and they never came, so now we have lost all hope of having it fixed. They didnt put the flashing on our gutters, and then told us they could fix it in a way that would create more of an issue or leave it alone, so we had to pay someone else to fix the problem they created. I fear that I will have to seek legal advice because I am now spending more money to pay for the mistakes that have been made and they refuse to fix.
John was through in explaining process, options , and walking around with us to show us options . We received much more detailed information from Budget than any other vendor .
