Forty-one Google ratings, every one of them five stars — and most describing the same thing: a new accessory dwelling unit in someone's back yard. BuildX works out of Hanover and builds ADUs across southeastern Massachusetts, along with custom homes, additions, renovations and disaster restoration. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held in the name BuildX LLC. The Better Business Bureau accredits the firm and grades it A+. The accounts behind the stars are concrete. A Plymouth homeowner wrote in May 2026 that ground broke in late December and the unit was done by April 11, through one of the stormiest winters they could remember. In January 2026, a couple who are both MEP engineers described a complete rebuild of their 2,000 sq ft home after a second-floor water feed let go while they were on vacation. From an August 2023 review: a house demolished after a fire the previous August and rebuilt in about eight months. Owners in Kingston, Marshfield, Freetown and Plymouth name their project managers individually — Justin, Kevin Healey, Tom Gonet, Michael Fleck — and several mention weekly planning meetings and a shared progress tracker. Read the wall carefully, though. Some of the five-star entries aren't from people who hired BuildX to build anything: two come from trade partners who work alongside the company, two from homeowners who explored an ADU and never went ahead, and one from a guest at a contract-signing dinner. Those are honest accounts of the sales and coordination side, not jobs delivered. The written history also only runs from 2023, so the depth here is recent rather than decades-long. Smaller work shows up too — two bathroom renovations finished in a week in May 2024, a deck and a replacement mudroom door added mid-ADU-build in July 2026, and a structural LVL beam set into a garage ceiling in October 2025 to correct a badly sagging floor above. If you're weighing an ADU on the South Shore or South Coast, this is the outfit with the deepest visible run of them, and the state registration checks out. Ask to walk one or two of the most recently completed units near you, and confirm which licence covers your particular job — the BBB profile lists a state construction supervisor licence alongside the home improvement registration.
