North Star-Bailey is a Hanover exterior shop people call for window replacements and vinyl siding jobs, run today by owners Bob and Bill Gustafson, who bought the business in 2020. The company's own history traces back to 1945 as Bailey and Son, taking its current name after a 1993 merger with a window company called North Star Windows. What shows up again and again across 42 Google reviews spanning 2022 to 2026 — all five-star — is how closely the owners stay involved: customers describe Bill and Bob personally fielding questions, returning calls, and checking back after the crew leaves. One recent review recounts the crew building custom mounting plates so a deck's power awnings wouldn't need bolting through new siding, and several customers mention finish-carpentry touches around entrances and trim. A number of reviewers came back for a second or third project — replacing a set of windows one year, siding the next. Recurring themes in the write-ups are punctuality and cleanup: crews are described as showing up on time, testing new windows with a hose to check for leaks, and cleaning the work area daily. A 2025 review describes a full 18-window replacement finished on schedule with the site cleaned afterward; an older 2024 review covers a 20-window colonial renovation with frames, sills and interior trim redone. One thing worth asking about before booking: the state registry shows the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration has expired, so it's worth confirming current registration and any local permits needed for the job. They're a solid call for a straightforward window, siding, or door replacement on the South Shore, particularly for homeowners who want direct access to the owners rather than a large crew turning over project to project — just check the registration status first.

We had our entire home re sided. From start to finish, excellent care, craftsmanship and service. The crew went the extra mile when reinstalling the power awnings over our deck and made custom mounting plates so the awnings were not bolted through the siding. Our favorite was the finish carpentry at the entrance. We originally had wood and asked if it was possible to replicate our entrance in a composite material so we don’t have to paint it every year. Northstar Bailey was more than happy to accommodate our request. The foreman spoke with me daily and either Alex or Bill would call me periodically to make sure we were happy and wanted me to know that they were available if need be. It’s this level of care and detail that sets North Star Bailey apart from the competition.
Working with these people, Bill and Alex, was so easy. They answered every question, and there were many, and put me at ease. I have two big dogs that I needed to think of while they were replacing my windows. The windows came out beautiful. I feel like I have a new home. Highly recommend.
Alex and his crew were awesome. They did beautiful workmanship, my husband and I were very impressed with the installation of doors and windows. All the workers were very kind and I felt very comfortable with them in the house. They made sure everything was clean when they were through. Bill was great to deal with to set everything up and fine tune the details. I will be using them for our future projects!
