C AND K REMODELING

I met with Zachary Chudy in early March and gave him $2,000 as a deposit to start building our pantry cabinets. Zac stated that he had received delivery of our materials and would begin constructing the cabinets as soon as he received the deposit. Almost 5 months later and we have not heard back despite several calls, texts, and emails. It is unfortunate because Zac does great work and has done work for us in the past. His communication skills are lacking and his tendency to ignore his clients instead of communicating with them is what gets him in trouble. It is ashame....very very talented young man. Just doesn't know how to communicate with his clients. I don't think he understands that his clients will respect him if he just communicates and tells the truth, even if that means having to wait longer for him to complete the work. No one likes to say a contractor ran off with their money and they never heard from them again, but unfortunately that is the case with Zac.

Zach took $900 as a deposit for basement windows. Three months ago he said he had them and would come install that week. I am still waiting. He ignores calls and texts. With winter coming I am afraid I will have issues in my basement. I can’t speak for how he might be on a big job, but when it comes to small jobs he definitely lacks commitment. I would have rather he just told me he did not want the job. Now I am out $900 and still don’t have my windows and have no idea what is going on.

Zak is a nice person who has did an absolutely wonderful job on the roof over our patio, new window and replacing a transom window (all pictures he posted on his Facebook website). He gave us a contract which met all the requirements by law, so he knew what hew was doing. We signed it just before Memorial Day. He told us it would take a week or so to do once we got the permit. We agreed on completion date of mid July. NOTE; it was not his fault the town took 6 weeks to process the permit, we actually expected that as Grafton is horrible that way. So we got the permit 6 weeks later, early July, and I was going to be forgiving since the town took so long. However, once we got the permit he only showed up once or twice a week for a few hours here and there and so it spread the 5 or so days of work out over the next 8 weeks, we were treated like a side job. He ignored all my phone calls and emails and texts and showed up when ever he wanted to. I was going to fire him after a month of this but my wife spoke to him one day when he was there and then he was good for the last small portion of the project. I figured, ok he gets it now and asked for a quote on the next portion of the project and at first responded each time stating he had the quote almost done but then guess what? Yup, totally ignored all my attempt to contact him over the past month or so. Zak lost my recommendations to anyone solely due to his lack of commitment and communication skills. Which is a shame because he is very talented and knowledgeable.

The only reason I would hesitate to recommend Chudy Construction is because I’d like to keep them all to myself! Their work is better described as that of artisan quality. Their attention to detail is highly impressive. Pricing is more than fair for the quality of the finished product. Their manner is friendly and personable and so, I have never had an uncomfortable moment with them as they worked at either of our properties. There have never been surprises at the invoicing stage. Any concern of added or unexpected cost was discussed as it was discovered giving us opportunity to discuss and decide on options. Just a note: If you are looking for someone to do quick and dirty, cutting corners kind of work, these are not the guys for you. They are dedicated to doing high quality work and that is exactly what they do.

I met Zac when I needed someone to do staircases for a large development I am building. This is a job not many finish guys seem to know how to do. Once Zac took over the staircases, I recruited Chudy Construction to do finish work; hardwood flooring; tile; decks; and more for my company. They possess a wide range of talents rarely found in people so young. Maybe the most important being a desire to work hard. I recommend them highly. The completion date is misleading as their work for me is ongoing. And the total amount of work is also much higher.
