C.R. Quist & Son is a West Boylston builder whose written record is a time capsule: twelve Angi reviews, the newest from March 2018, and a single Google rating. Nothing has been written about them in eight years. What is there is mostly warm, and specific about the same person. Reviewers writing between 2014 and 2018 name Steve running the jobs and Dan doing the carpentry. In an August 2016 review a repeat customer described a deck expansion integrated into an existing deck, with Steve pulling the town permits himself and getting the work signed off to code. A June 2016 customer praised how a kitchen island and corner cabinets went in exactly as drawn, and a July 2015 customer described a bathroom gutted and refitted over six weeks. A June 2017 reviewer offered the detail that sticks: "Very professional. Quiet no radios." The company says on its Angi profile that it has been building and remodeling across central New England for over forty years — though the same profile's highlights claim 52 years, so the exact figure is its own two answers. It also lists a certification in ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) construction. One review needs reading in full before you call. A March 2014 customer gave a long, glowing account of an accessible bathroom build — grab bars set into reinforced walls, a ceiling-supported curtain rod, inspectors coordinated — then came back in April 2016 to downgrade professionalism from A to D, writing that after an admitted $400 accounting error on a 2014 porch job, the refund never arrived across a year and a half of correspondence. It is one customer's account and it is a decade old, but it is about money, and it is the only substantive complaint on file. That leaves an obvious gap: there is no written account at all of how this business has performed since 2018. If you approach them, treat the old reviews as evidence of the craft and not of current capacity — ask for two references from work completed in the last two years, get the scope and the payment schedule in writing, and settle in advance how a change in scope is credited back.
Dan came at time stated. Job done in 3 days as we were told. All work done professionally and was excellent. We will be calling them back when we are ready for our next project.
Steve sent Dan to replace the molding on my kitchen cabinets. I found him very professional and polite. He takes great pride in his work and his work is excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending him and would certainly use him again.
The job was done quickly and was completed on time. Both Steve and Ashley were very responsive when I contacted them with questions via email. Most times I got an immediate response. They helped us make decisions about parts of the job when we were not sure what would be the best approach. We are very happy with the results and the whole experience in general!
I could not have asked for a better experience. At every turn, these guys went above an beyond what I could have expected. They even love my dogs!
Very professional. Quiet no radios. Came on time every day. Answered questions but otherwise went about their work. Comment from my wife: "They remind me of my father who was a pattern maker and loved his work."
