CAP Electric is a Wilmington electrical contractor doing residential and commercial wiring, maintenance and troubleshooting, plus access control, security systems and CCTV, serving Wilmington, Andover, Woburn and Lowell. Its Massachusetts electrician license is active, and BuildZoom shows at least 33 permitted electrical and addition projects over the past three years, mostly modest jobs around $2,800. The written record is split. A December 2025 review described six months of unresolved problems after an addition wiring job — flickering lights, dead outlets, and smoke alarms wired onto the same circuit as a bedroom without being told — and said the company stopped responding to calls. Earlier reviews tell a different story: a 2023 review described a same-day fix for a tripped-breaker HVAC problem after a highly recommended referral, a 2022 review described a spotless electrical panel upgrade with the crew checking other small issues around the house, and another 2022 review called the crew professional on a new room-and-garage addition. What's worth knowing before calling: in April 2026, news coverage reported that Christopher, who owned CAP Electric, lost a federal appeal of his conviction in a bribery scheme — starting in 2013, he paid people at CLEAResult, the firm that selects and oversees contractors for the state's Mass Save program. The company's own website still advertises itself as Mass Save Certified. Given a serious, unresolved 2025 complaint alongside a federal case tied directly to the company's Mass Save work, it's worth asking pointed questions about current ownership and getting a written scope and timeline before signing on for any larger or Mass Save-related job.
“Christopher owned CAP Electric, Inc., a business specializing in energy-conservation work. In 2013, he began bribing people at CLEAResult, a firm that picked and oversaw contractors on Mass Save projects.”
If I could give zero stars, I would. They did all the electric work on our house addition and NOTHING has been working as it should for the 6 months since their job was supposed to be done. Flickering lights, outlets that don’t work, smoke alarms for the whole house all on the same phase as our bedroom without any consulting on that….They don’t respond to calls and take ZERO responsibility and have not communicated AT ALL. I wish I could get a refund on all the money we paid them. Would never hire or recommend again. Edit: since I cannot respond to replies to my review, I am certainly not mistaken about the company. No confusion here. Might be a good idea to check out which of your clients you haven’t responded to in ages or haven’t fixed problems for.
We had an electric issue with power going to HVAC issue. It kept tripping the circuit breaker. I haven't been able to find a good electrician that I could trust with this job, but Pat from CAP came highly recommended. I called his phone and next afternoon he was able to send out Ryan and Justin. They were incredibly professional and knew exactly what was going on and what they were doing. Took them a couple hours but they were able to fix it up for us. They also recommended installing whole-home surge protector, which I was on the fence about, but will get it done by them. Will def work with them again.
Ryan was professional and provided great quality work at my buisness. Great communication. I plan to use them for future work.
Incredibly professional team, led by a calm rational and incredibly professional leader. Everyone on the work teams for our new construction room and garage were excellent.
The team from CAP Electric did a great job on our electrical panel upgrade. They went over and above to ensure that everything was in working order and left the place spotless! They were easy to work with and happy to take a look a the other little things around the house. They even "solved" a flickering light problem by changing the bulb and didn't make me feel silly for not trying that in the first place. I would definitely work with this team again.
