Carvalho & Sons is a Dracut fencing and hardscaping company founded and led by Nick Carvalho, working across custom cedar, wood, vinyl, chain link, composite, and iron fencing along with patios, walkways, walls, and other hardscape work. Reviewers routinely credit Nick personally — responding to inquiries the same day, showing up to measure within a day or two, and staying reachable by text throughout a project. The fence work is the clear specialty and the most reviewed. Customers describe full privacy-fence installs completed in as little as two days, a black pool fence installed on a fair quote and quick timeline, and a rotted section replaced within three weeks of the first call — including help picking materials and navigating town conservation rules along the way. Several reviewers specifically shopped multiple fence companies before choosing Carvalho on price and ease of dealing with them. Beyond fencing, the company also handles real hardscape projects: patios, front steps and walkways, retaining walls, stair railings, and granite driveway post lights, with one HOA hiring them repeatedly for a run of projects. The overwhelming majority of the 60 reviews on file, spanning 2023 through mid-2026, are five stars and specific — cleanup after the job, respect for existing landscaping, and fair, competitive pricing come up again and again. But two reviews stand out as real exceptions worth knowing about. A September 2025 customer says a large retaining-wall project Nick estimated at two weeks took over three months, and the final bill came in $16,000 higher than quoted — the review attributes it to the company taking on more work than it could keep pace with. A separate 2024 review, harsher in tone, describes a frustrating experience trying to reorder additional fence material through the customer's landscaper after an initial 100-plus-foot install, calling the business difficult to deal with, though the specifics of what went wrong aren't fully spelled out. Both accounts are outliers against an otherwise deep and consistently positive record — the last six months alone brought four more reviews with nothing negative in them — but a customer taking on a large-scope project, especially one involving structural work like a retaining wall, would do well to get a firm, written timeline and price before starting.
Nick and his crew are the best . I cannot recommend them enough for one stop shop for everything outdoors . Very fair , reasonable and friendly . Top Quality craftsmanship
Shopped around with a bunch of fence people. Went with Nick. He was as good if not better than the other quotes we received. Very easy to deal with. His crew took care of removing the old fence and getting the new one up quickly. Very happy with the final product.
Nick and team were wonderful to work with! From the responsiveness, to the care the guys took in their work and craft, the entire team made us feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. Nick was helpful in navigating town conservation laws, thoughtful about installation, constantly monitoring weather conditions, and verifying details more than once. We had a great experience with Carvalho and would recommend them to anyone wanting to install a fence.
Within 3 weeks I had a new and beautiful fence!! A side of my fence rotted and fell over, and I contacted Nick. He replied the same day, and came to inspect and measure the next day. He helped me pick out the best type of fence and materials for underneath. He was SO KIND and professional. His team were incredibly polite and speedy, and explained everything I asked about. Highly recommend and I'll use the company again when the rest of my fence falls over! Thanks Nick amd team! :D
Had about 300 feet of 6’ privacy fence install from a different company. Install came out great and was very happy. We had a lot of ground work down and probably should have waited a season to install the fence because the ground settled and we got separation in the fence. I don’t blame the fence company at all. Where they fell short is when I called them to have them come fix it. I told them I was willing to pay whatever it was going to cost to have it fixed. They came out one time to look at it and told me they would get me on the schedule. Almost a year later and multiple phone calls and still nothing. I finally had someone recommend Nick so I gave him a call. He came out within a couple days and less than a week later my fence is all fixed. If I could go back I would have had him do the original install and will definitely be using his company in the future for many other projects. Thank you Nick.
