Casey Movers is a Hanover-based company, in business since at least the early 1990s according to its own copyright notice, offering residential and commercial moving, packing, storage, and junk removal across New England and interstate. Reviewers describe genuinely capable crews when things go well: fast, careful work on local moves, out-of-state pickups arranged on short notice, and at least one full cross-country move from Massachusetts to California handled smoothly from the first sales call through delivery. But the written history running from 2021 through 2026 also carries a real cluster of serious complaints, and they aren't isolated. Two reviews — one in 2025, one in 2026 — describe a crew pressuring a customer for a cash tip mid-move, in one case a supervisor suggesting 25% or at least $200 per mover, delivered in a way the reviewer called intimidating. Separately, a 2023 review described a bed gashed and dragged across hardwood floors, a 2022 review said the owner never acknowledged or offered to repair damage a crew caused, and a 2021 review alleged an employee stole a piece of jewelry during an out-of-state move, with the company staying unresponsive afterward. A 2025 review said the walkthrough promised trained packing staff, but two of the workers who actually showed up said it was their first day. Further back, a pair of 2012 and 2013 web posts accused the company of posting fake reviews and sending customers legal threats over negative Yelp reviews, and reported a Better Business Bureau grade of F at that time — old accounts, more than a decade old now, but specific enough to flag as history rather than leave out. Recent activity is thin and split: two reviews in the past six months, one of them negative. Given how far apart the good and bad accounts run — some reviewers get the attentive, careful crew described in the praise, others get the pressure tactics or damage described above — anyone hiring Casey Movers is well served getting the crew, the tipping policy, and the damage-claim process spelled out in writing before moving day, and paying by a traceable method rather than cash.
“Casey Mover now rated an F by Better Business Bureau ... Their track record of posting fake reviews and threatening past customers with lawsuits for posting negative reviews really tells you all you need to know.”
“Today my wife received a certified letter from Casey Movers asking her to remove a negative Yelp review or they would sue for libel in District Court in Massachusetts.”
“Movers we're friendly and extremely helpful. Great job! we will recommend to all our friends ... Wonderful company, I've been using them for years around the building and warehouse.”
This company is NOT GOOD! Within the first ten minutes I was pulled aside and cornered by one of the guys and was told I had to tip 25% and it had to be cash. It was intimidating and uncomfortable. He even went on to say it should be at least $200 per mover. I explained this was a move for a non-profit organization and I had to put the gratuity on a credit card to show proof where the funds were spent. He suggested I take the money out of my own account and pay the $800. They did move everything, but they did not listen and put items wherever they wanted, and they did not rebuild the furniture they took apart. The guy then called me a few hours later and said the job was bigger than he expected and I should increase the cash tip amount. I reminded him I explained exactly what we needed for the move when I booked them, and the scheduler said an all-day price would cover what we needed, and that is what we paid for. He took back what he said, and then they milked their time to be able to charge overtime, which is such a HEFTY fee. We explained we needed to be done by a certain time, they said no problem then "got lost" for an hour and 45 minutes when the sites were only 15 minutes apart. And just in case you are wondering that was not their break. We had fed them earlier and they did take their much-needed break. He asked one more time for the cash tip and it was explained again that this was a company and we would need to put it on a credit card, he stated he told me early in the morning so I could have figured it out. We are not a company that has any cash on hand, if tip was cash only this should have been told to us when booking so we could have discussed this already. LASTLY, we called the company to explain about their poor behavior and being lost, and they could care less, they were actually dismissive and acted like they receive these complaints often. These are the type of companies that take advantage of others, and it was a horrible experience. We will never use them again and just thought others should know what to expect. ................................... Since I cannot reply to their reply I will add here. There absolutely was ONE discount given to us which was waiving the 9% fee for using a credit card. Thank you for that, it was not discussed previously but it was given in the beginning of the move, that was accurate. The move was NOT more than we discussed we explained in detail what we needed, as well as informed you that we had another moving company hired as well because it was such a big move. We only had 3 stops as planned. We DID have a flat rate which was your all-day rate of $3,300, I put $500 down and had a $2,800 balance which was CLEARLY stated during our conversation and SIGNED in our contract. It covered from 8:30am - 4:30pm. We were told about the overtime charges the morning of which we clearly stated we would like to stay in the time frame that is why we hired multiple movers. At NO Point was it ever said that we had to call and put in a No-Tip order over the phone, so yes, you are correct we did not do that. But how your worker conducted themselves in requesting it was uncomfortable and inappropriate. AND we would have tipped if you allowed us to do it legally, you wanted it in cash, so no taxes come out of it. Companies cannot do that, you should know your clientele. Also tip amount should be up to the client and a certain amount should not be demanded. I am all for tipping but how your company handled it was wrong. The person that called did not say they had to order a new moving company, they were stating we had to have the other company there fix the work of your movers. AND lastly, the detour my friend was the same detour everyone had to take from one place to another, and it did not take any of us an hour and 45 minutes to find the location. You abused your position as movers to be able to charge unnecessary overtime. AND we paid with no problem because the work was done. However, a bad TRUTHFUL review is warranted.
Fast, efficient and early to the job! Dan & George are great and easy to talk to.Casey is highly recommended.
Very professional and took great care of our items.
Although 5 men moved quickly in the beginning about two hours into packing the truck the supervisor of the job reviewed the paperwork and suggested that a gratuity was expected. I felt intimidated into giving a tip. I found that after arriving at our destination the movers were less interested in putting the boxes where I asked them to put them, so many of the the larger boxes were not placed in the basement even though they were clearly marked basement. Even after I told them the boxes needed to go into the basement I found them in the garage instead. I’m 80 and cannot move the heavy boxes on my own.
Moving is stressful enough. Please don’t make the same mistake I made and hire another moving company. The move was a disaster. I was told on walk through that the packing team is professional and has had training. Day of packing - 2 guys said it was their first day. The photos speak for themselves with the amount of damage
