Castlemaine Construction is a Dorchester-based carpentry and renovation business run by Morgan Foley, and the standout fact here is how long people keep hiring him back — several homeowners describe working with Morgan for 15 to 20 years, on everything from a doorknob replacement to a full kitchen and bathroom gut renovation. The company says it has served the Boston and South Shore area since 1999, and its work spans carpentry, painting, decks, kitchens, and bathrooms. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and the Google history runs deep: 4.7 stars from 24 ratings, with homeowners describing crews that show up on time, work efficiently, and pay close attention to detail. One client credits Morgan with everything from "demolition to painting to full gut renovation" of their home over 20 years; another says he brought in electricians and plumbers to handle a full kitchen renovation and bathroom addition on a 100-year-old house. The history stretches back further too — a 2018 Houzz review describes a full plumbing, electrical, and ceiling rebuild, and a 2014 BuildZoom review credits the crew with replacing rotted trim and repainting a home's exterior. The one dissenting note is a 2025 Google review describing a scope disagreement — paint applied over wood the customer felt was rotten, and a difficult conversation before it got fixed. Worth asking upfront how Castlemaine handles unexpected repair scope and change orders before signing on for larger carpentry or renovation work. For anything from finish carpentry to a full room gut renovation in the Boston/South Shore area, the long client relationships and active state registration here are the strongest signals — just get the scope of any repair work in writing before the crew starts.
Morgan got my house ready to go on the market and did an amazing job! Quick, reliable and great work! Highly recommend!
I hired Morgan to do work at both my rental property and primary residence. His entire team, from workers to his office personnel were incredibly responsive, professional and highly skilled. I would hire them again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to anyone doing small repairs to large additions. They are great!
Outstanding work. Delivered on time and very responsive. Will work to understand requirements, and deliver less expensive options if needed.
They have me a reasonable price . They showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, but paid attention to detail. The crew didn't know this but I was a tradesman back in the day so I have an idea of what should be done. I watched most of their work. I was very pleased with their work. Their boss was honest ,personable ,and extremely knowledgeable. They cleaned up and did not leave so much as a splinter of wood on my grass . A few years have passed and their work is still flawless . I would use their services again.
I have worked with Castlemaine Construction for over 15 years. Morgan is a hard worker, quite skilled and professional. He painted our home many years ago and it has held up without incident. Castlemaine replaced the deck a few years back as well. Morgan always responds to inquires and often will stop by when he is in the neighborhood just to check in. I recommend Morgan and Castlemaine Construction without any reservation.
