Six of Castlemaine's reviewers measure the relationship in decades. One wrote in November 2025 that Morgan Foley and his crew had worked on several of their houses for more than 20 years, on everything from demolition to painting to a full gut renovation of their home; another that month counted over 15 years, a house Foley painted long ago that has held up since, and a deck replaced a few years back. The company's site says it has served Boston and the South Shore since 1999. The work spans a whole house rather than one trade. A September 2025 reviewer listed close to 20 years of work on a Quincy house: walls removed, plastering, windows and floors changed, decks added, a bathroom extension, and an attic rebuilt during the pandemic. A November 2025 customer went from a replaced doorknob to a full kitchen renovation and a bathroom addition on a 100-year-old house, with electricians and plumbers brought in for their parts. In December 2024, another had a collapsing deck replaced and a side porch repaired on a fast timeline. One recent account goes the other way and deserves its own weight. In November 2025 a customer rated the company two stars, writing that rotten wood was painted over, that they struggled to get on the same page about the scope of the carpentry work, and that after the work was botched it was an uphill battle to convince them it needed to be done right; they would not recommend the company. That same reviewer added that Castlemaine are not the ones performing the work — the flip side of what another customer praised, crediting Foley for bringing in the right tradespeople. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #176846 is active on the state registry, held by Castlemaine Inc. Houzz also lists a Boston Preservation Alliance historic home preservation certification for the business, which fits the housing stock in the reviews — 1970s exteriors, century-old houses, a Quincy rebuild carried out in stages. A sound call for an older Boston or South Shore house you plan to work on over years with one contractor: carpentry, decks, painting and gut work rather than a single showpiece job. Before anyone starts, get the carpentry scope written down item by item — including what happens where rot is found — and settle who will actually be on site doing it.
