Central Maine Heat Pumps is a Benton heat pump installer with 3.4 stars from 23 Google ratings. In a 2024 review of an install in a 200 year old building, the customer said Todd recommended units that functioned from day one during a -15 degree cold snap, and that the office navigated the Efficiency Maine rebate process. A 2024 customer said Todd came out to survey the home for the best placement of the heat pump and showed them how to work it. A 2023 customer praised Dawn in the office for her work on the rebates and called the installation clean and quick. In 2022, a customer wrote that Brad did a fine job on the installation. Service after an install is where customers ran into trouble. A 2025 customer said the company would not return a call after several messages about servicing a heat pump it installed. A 2024 customer said they had waited since December for a repair after their six-month-old heat pump stopped working during the December storm. A 2023 customer said they waited almost two months for a repair and were then told the unit would not be repaired. A 2024 customer who bought a heat pump from the company in 2016 said it refused to service the unit and claimed it had no service team. In a 2026 review, a homeowner whose house came with two of the company's heat pumps said calls went unanswered for years. That 2026 reviewer said a woman reached at the number told them the company had gone out of business about a year earlier.
Came here to check reviews to see if I was alone in my experience. And since I was not, wanted to add my experience. I purchased my home in 2019 with 2 heat pumps installed by this company prior to my purchase. They are the primary source of heat for the entire home besides the pellet stove in the basement if needed but we have not used. (Mostly because it only gets one room downstairs super hot and does not spread throughout the house to provide heat to other parts) I called numerous times in the years I’ve lived here in an attempt to get them to come out and look at the units. But never got a response. I tried to get other companies to come but the second I mentioned one of the units was ducted through my first floor, NO ONE would come to even look. A few years ago I noticed a huge wet spot on my ceiling and realized the condenser is likely gone and even with that information, no one would look at it. So my partner ripped down most of the hallway ceiling to remove the moldy ceiling and insulation and put something under it to catch the condensation. I continued to call this place a bunch of times to continue to get no response, no return call, nothing. Despite numerous messages explaining all of the above. So today, after continuing to hit dead ends for someone to come take a look, I googled the company again and called the number. According to the woman I spoke to today, they are no longer in business. Went out of business about a year ago. Number goes to a landline business that does Heat Pumps and found them extremely helpful. But seriously disappointed in this company for letting their customers down time after time. I guess it’s no surprise they aren’t in business anymore.
Won’t return a call after several messages left to service a heat pump they installed.
Great team! Dawn knows her heat pumps in and out. Install was excellent and we're very happy thus far with the whole experience. The heat pump which we had placed in the basement maintains the temp we set (66) and keeps the upstairs pretty nice also especially with the pellet stove in the kitchen! Thank you Central Maine Heat Pumps!
A wonderful experience from speaking with Dawn to next having Todd come out to survey our home for best placement of our heat pump. The install was seamless. The whole team is fantastic. Dawn was so great in answering my questions and Todd was excellent in showing us how to work the heat pump and being very particular on colors to match the outside home. I wish I knew the names of the other worker he was super nice and the electrician team!! Thank you so much.
I have been waiting since December for then to come fix my heat pump I have called numerous times and they have not fixed it. I only had it 6 months and during the December storm it stopped working apparently the circuit board is not working but after repeated calls they have not fixed it or returned to do anything
