Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Certified Roofing Systems. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

Certified Roofing Systems, run out of Newton by Dion Gaines with Ryan and John handling much of the customer-facing work, has built a deep, mostly glowing record across residential and commercial roofing -- flat rubber roofs, shingle replacements, gutters, skylights, and chimney flashing all show up in the reviews. Communication and honesty are the throughline. In a 2023 review, a homeowner described getting three itemized quotes with the differences explained before choosing a mid-priced option and coming away confident the company would stand behind the work. In a separate 2023 review, a customer said Ryan talked them out of buying more than they needed. And in a 2023 review, Mr. Gaines personally inspected a roof, explained what was missing, and had a crew patch it the next day before the contract was even signed. The commercial side shows real technical range. In a 2023 review, the company diagnosed and fixed a flat rubber roof with water ponding, failing drains, and separating seams on a commercial building, with the owner praised for staying in constant contact by phone and text throughout. Emergency turnarounds get specific mentions too -- a clogged gutter cleared in under four hours after a storm, in a 2023 review, and a small roof leak addressed quickly at a lower price than competitors. The record isn't perfect. In a 2021 review -- the oldest on file and outside the period the rating weighs most heavily -- a customer described signing a quote, then being ghosted: the company went silent, resurfaced once to promise a crew "in a few days," and was never heard from again. That account stands alone in an otherwise consistent multi-year run of five-star reviews naming the same few staff. One fact worth knowing before signing anything: its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, verified against the state registry, shows as expired. Google shows 4.9 stars from 123 ratings and the Better Business Bureau lists an A+ grade -- it's worth confirming the registration has been renewed before booking a job.
I wish there was a 100/100 star option. Dion is always a pleasure to work with. I love how knowledgeable he is about the industry but also educating me in the process as well instead of giving a quote and doing the job. You can tell his crew is well taken care of based on the quality of the work. 100/100 will recommend!
Had flat rubber roofing building done and they did a great job
Excellent and very efficient Went away for the weekend and when I came back the job was done Would highly recommend
The Certified Roofing team responded to my inquiry quickly and provided a reasonable quote in comparison to others. The team showed up on time and replaced my roof within 2 days. They also cleaned up well. A fantastic job!
Mr. Gaines came and inspected my roof, there were some pieces missing. He explained patiently and thoroughly. His crew came to patch our roof the next day which surprised us and really appreciated. Once we signed the contract, his crew came on time and finished the job in two days, both efficiently and professionally. They cleaned up quite well too afterwards. I could not be happier!! On top of that, the price was fair too, we compared with 2 other companies. I could not be happier!
