Cesar's Hardwood Floors is a Melrose-based flooring contractor serving the Greater Boston area — Cesar and his crew handle installation, sanding, refinishing, staining and repair, along with tile work, interior painting and bathroom remodeling on the side. The company's own site is inconsistent about how long it's been at this: one line claims over 20 years, another says over 10 — so take 'established' as the honest read rather than a precise number. The Google record is deep and mostly glowing: 17 of 18 written reviews from 2021 through 2025 are four or five stars, with the specifics repeating job after job — floors finished on schedule and on budget, custom stain colors matched to the homeowner's taste, a 120-year-old floor with water damage brought back to a like-new finish. One 2025 reviewer called Cesar in after a different company botched their hardwood — wrong wood, bad sanding, seams where the boards should have been feathered — and described him fixing what the first contractor left behind. Not every job landed clean, though. A June 2024 review described the opposite experience: an uneven polyurethane finish with visible shiny spots, inconsistent application, and drips left to dry in places — a genuine quality miss worth asking about directly, especially around how a finish coat gets checked before the crew leaves. Recent activity from mid-to-late 2025 stays on the positive side, with reviewers again citing quick estimates, clean work and communication throughout the job. For a straightforward refinish, a repair, or fixing another contractor's mistake, the record here runs deep and largely positive; given the one detailed complaint about finish quality, it's worth confirming how the final coat gets inspected before you sign off.
