New Rainstone Construction is a Melrose, Massachusetts remodeling and carpentry outfit run day-to-day by Ken — the state's licensing board lists the construction supervisor of record as Jin Gao, and the company itself holds an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration. Homeowners hire this crew for the full range of a remodel: additions, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, porches, and the finish carpentry that ties a project together. Ken's history in Melrose runs deep — more than three dozen five-star reviews across Google and Thumbtack dating back to 2018, and it holds up under detail. One reviewer described Ken rebuilding a rotted two-family back porch and matching new siding to the original; another described him boxing in gas pipes and HVAC vents during a basement remodel to preserve ceiling height; a reviewer who owns rental property in Medford and Malden calls him her go-to for everything from urgent electrical and plumbing fixes to full unit remodels. Several reviewers describe hiring him repeatedly over years for full kitchen remodels, big decks, and bathroom renovations, and multiple call out fair, competitive pricing by name rather than just general satisfaction. Three more reviews have landed in just the last six months, all five stars, so the pace hasn't slowed. On the licensing side, both boards check out: the state verifies an active home improvement registration for the company and an active construction supervisor license held by Jin Gao — the two-license structure Massachusetts requires for a general contractor doing structural work. BuildZoom's own permit records back that up with 37 recorded building permits since 2018 and a score in the 91st percentile of Massachusetts contractors. For a remodel that touches more than one trade — an addition, a full kitchen or bath, a rebuilt porch — this is a crew with years of matching work on file and licenses that check out; worth asking is simply how it fits into the current schedule, since a business this well-reviewed tends to book out.
It was amazing. They worked very quickly and was a pleasure to deal with, and the work was very high quality for a great price. Thank you
I was very happy with the services provided very professional and reasonably priced. I will definitely use them again!
Ken is a true professional and very honest, which can be a challenge to find with GCs. His work is top notch. He removed our two-family back porches and rebuilt them. They are very well built and he did a beautiful job marrying the new siding into our original siding. He cleaned up all the construction debris and left our yard immaculate. We are all very pleased with the job he did and refer him to our friends and family.
Ken and his team did a wonderful job with several small/medium jobs on our home. He expertly replaced a rotted window sill on our second floor, repaired and rebuilt our basement egress threshold, built replacement drawers for an original built-in, and hung a door! Ken was very responsive and communicative and his work is high quality!!
Ken was extremely communicative, fast to schedule and arrive, and delivered a great final result on the project. I would happily work with him again
