My husband and I met with Danny to discuss the installation of a 15 x 26 freeform Latham pool kit. We agreed upon a price of $25,000 for the installation and requested a contract. What we received was, quite possibly, the most incomplete and unprofessional agreement I had ever laid eyes on. I revised the agreement and requested proof of insurance and workers' compensation, a nominal guarantee on the workmanship of the installation only, and additional specifics surrounding exactly what Danny was providing for the fee he was charging. As soon as Danny reviewed the new agreement, the job became too difficult and complicated, and not something he wanted to tackle. I can assume that Danny did not have the proper insurance coverages and was unwilling to stand behind his work. Also, he requested that payments be made in cash so that he didn't have to claim the income, which did not sit well with us. We called, texted, and emailed Danny to try to get this project back on track but he did not have the professionalism to have a conversation. My $.02 . . . I would not recommend that anyone work with someone who openly discloses his desire to commit tax fraud and who doesn't want to have all the proper protective documents in place before beginning a job. As the homeowner, it's simply not worth opening yourself up to the potential risk. And as for our pool installation? I've attached the photos. My husband and his crew had no problem building this in less time than Danny said it would take. I guess he had to justify his outrageous pricing or he simply doesn't have the skills to handle a more complicated build despite this having been his field for decades.
