Chelmsford Fireplace Center, on Summer Street in Chelmsford, is a hearth showroom first: gas and wood fireplaces, inserts, stoves and gas logs, with an in-house service department for installation and maintenance, according to its BBB profile. The company says it has been in business 48 years, and BBB lists it as accredited with an A+ grade. On Google it holds 4.5 stars from 58 ratings. An April 2026 reviewer planning a gas fireplace for a new addition said Mark H. asked about the space, the heating BTUs and the budget before laying out three options and the tradeoffs between them, and noted that the staff do not work on commission. In a 2024 review, a customer said Ziggy guided them from knowing next to nothing, and that the shop has its own installers it has recommended for years. A Reddit commenter in October 2025 said they paid around $7k for the whole installation, which included replacing the fireplace liner. In a January 2024 review, a buyer said the shop went over the entire installation and use of their new stove, and the owner, Corey, made time to show them how to load it correctly when they had a question about smoke. A September 2026 reviewer said three calls for a needed repair went unanswered and unreturned, and that it was not the first time. An October 2025 reviewer who bought two Mendota fireplaces said the service line rarely answers, and that after waiting four days for a callback they were told the shop does not service New Hampshire, even though someone from the company had come to fix their fireplace there the winter before. A December 2025 customer said a $2,300 set of glass fireplace doors bought the previous fall broke, and the staff said they do not fix glass and that closing the doors with a fire going was the customer's fault.
“I paid around $7k for the whole installation and everything - they needed to replace the fireplace liner. Used [Chelmsford Fireplace](https://chelmsfordfireplace.com).”

They will never answer the phone nor return your message. Three calls into them for a needed repair. This is not the first time. Driving there is your only hope.
Planning to install a gas fireplace into a new addition. Received multiple referrals to Chelmsford FP Center and can state without question they were all right. Clean location. A LOT of options and variety. Easy location to get to. Sales folks are wicked easy and awesome (I worked specifically with Mark H). They do not work on commission, so there is no 'pressure' to make a sale. Before recommending anything to me, they asked what space, what purpose, and what was important to me (heating BTU, aesthetics, cost, etc..). It was only after 10 or so mins of talking that we got down to business. From there I was given 3 different options, with a lot of explanation as to WHY those options made sense, and what the tradeoffs between each was. As there was no pressure for the sale itself, they provided me ample time to take brochures home, review specs and dimensions, and do the 'build your own' widget on each manufacturer website to select the options I wanted for pricing. If you're in the market for a new gas fireplace, an insert, a pellet stove, a grill, or anything else provided by the awesome folks over at Chelmsford FP, I'd say this is your true 'one stop shop'.
-Clean and Organized -Simple and fast service -Ready for extra questions -Tips for the items what I purchased -Sell by feet Firewood stove gaskets and neat bagging From Mr. Mark Hall, even though we did small purchases, we felt served by the owner who takes care of each customer with his best. (At the end of purchased when I asked, I found ont he was one of employees.) Mr. Mark Hall, we appreciate your clear and ready to help attitude. May God bless you.
Ziggy and the whole team at Chelmsford Fireplace were phenomenal. Really pleased with the product and their support and knowledge.
We bought an expensive ($2300) fireplace door here last fall. Last week, the glass doors broke while using the fireplace. When I went in to ask them about it, I was told they (1) don't fix glass (2) couldn't recommend someone who does fix glass and (3) it was my fault because you aren't supposed to close the doors when the fire is going. Oddly enough, the final point wasn't made clear during the sales pitch for the ($2300) door last fall. They had a enerally poor attitude and couldn't be bothered to discuss the problem with me. You might want to support a local business, but save your money and go to a big box store because there's no advantage to shopping here.
