Verified record
Chris Prince Fencing is a family-run, one-man Reading shop — Chris Prince does wood, vinyl, chain link and iron fencing work, and the BBB lists 25 years in business. The written record, running 2013 to 2020, tells two very different stories depending which review you land on. The dominant note across dozens of Angi and Google reviews from that stretch is responsiveness and price. In a 2014 review, a homeowner recalled soliciting quotes from several companies and picking Chris because he was "the most responsive and most professional," with a competitor unable to match his price. A 2015 review described him showing up every day until a fence job was finished, at a price the reviewer called fair. A patio he built around 1999 was still holding up two decades later, per a 2020 review, needing only a couple of panels replaced after a windstorm. But a cluster of reviews from 2015-2016 describes the opposite experience. A 2016 review says he was "only responsive when he's trying to get a contract signed," followed by delays and excuses until the reviewer demanded a deposit back. A 2015 review describes two months of chasing him over a job left unfinished, with missed deliveries and an unlevel gate. Another from the same year describes a simple fence quoted for late April stretching into mid-June with repeated missed appointments. Angi's current profile for the business also carries a flag marking it "under review." Its BBB file is an A+, and it's been BBB-accredited since 2020. Worth asking directly about current scheduling and getting a firm timeline in writing before booking, since the same name shows up in both the fastest and the slowest accounts on file.

Chris built our patio about 22 years ago and it looks great even now. He only had to come back 2 years ago after a windstorm blew down a couple of panels.
Chris was courteous and professional. He installed a chain linked fence for our dog. After about a year, the lock on the fence wasn’t functioning. I contacted him and he fixed the fence in a timely manner. We would hire him again.
Chris built a beautiful enclosed patio for us around 1999. It's lasted us many years and now we'd like to get him back for a few fixes. We highly recommend him.
HORRIBLE!!!!
We weren't really sure what we wanted and Chris Prince was kind of annoyed by that. Very nice if you know what you are looking for.
