Clark Construction is a Ridgefield design-build remodeler whose customers split sharply: some hired it three times, others said they would never hire it again. On Houzz the company describes itself as specializing in whole-house renovations, additions and kitchen and bath remodels, and Houzz lists 2013 awards including Fairfield County Remodeler of the Year and Chrysalis awards for a bath and a kitchen. BuildZoom lists Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor licence HIC.0548418, shown there as Active, issued 04-01-2026. Houzz shows 4.5 stars from 8 ratings, Angi 3.0 stars from 6, and the Better Business Bureau lists an A+ grade. All of its written reviews date from 2006 to 2019. The positive accounts center on planning and schedules. In a 2017 Houzz review, a family that updated three bathrooms described a project manager who kept everything organized and an online client calendar showing who would be in the house each day, with the work finished within the promised timelines. Two 2016 reviewers each described three projects with Clark, one listing windows and siding, bathrooms and roof work, and a complete kitchen remodel, with detailed contracts and budgets up front. In a 2019 Angi review, a homeowner said Ross was the only contractor to return their call and that Clark honored the timeline and estimate. The complaints are detailed. In a 2016 review posted on both Houzz and Angi, a customer whose project included a three-story addition said the foundation was poured short, floors had to be redone twice, change orders carried a premium, and a roof leak at the addition was closed as unresolved. A 2015 Angi reviewer said a single bathroom scheduled for nine weeks took almost twelve, with no one from Clark on site supervising and a subcontractor making a hole through the floor and the ceiling below. Two 2006 Angi reviews complained about hardwood floor work, including gouged walls and floors re-sanded at night. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0548418, as active, held by Clark Construction of Ridgefield Inc.
When we bought our home in early summer we wanted to remodel before moving in. I contacted several contractors in the area including Clark Construction. The only contractor to return my phone call was Ross at Clark Construction. Not only did they make time to meet with us but they guaranteed our project deadline. The responsiveness was impressive. Clark Construction honored the timeline and estimate. Since then we have hired Clark Construction for additional projects. Simply put, we keep using Clark Construction because of their availability, honesty and attention to detail.
Clark built a custom deck for us. They did what they said they'd do, they were courteous and professional. Their price was great considering the overall value and quality. I was VERY impressed.
This company is awesome to work with! Quality and great design. I highly recommend them for any home improvement project - large and small. They were easy to work with and very professional. Our project was finished on time and far exceeded our expectations. Winner!
The three bathrooms in our home were badly overdue for some major updating. We were hesitant to take on any major renovations, especially with young children in the house. We chose Clark as they seemed to be extremely professional and organized. I was impressed the instant they came to our home to review what we wanted to do and remained impressed with how they handled the entire project. They literally took care of everything for us - all we needed to do was go to their showroom and pick out what we wanted. I wasn't as nearly stressed/anxious as I thought I would be, as the project manager took that all away from me by keeping everything organized and being on top of all aspects of the project. With the online client calendar, I knew who was going to be in my home and what was going to happen on any given day. This for me was a huge plus as I never had to guess when things were going to get done. And to top it off, they finished the jobs within the timelines that they originally promised!
We have done three projects with Clark Construction in the last five years and continue to be thrilled with the results. The common thread through all of the projects has been the detail of project planning and design, the quality of the work, and the ability to stay right on schedule. The design team at Clark has always been great to work with. They listened to our needs carefully, but also offered suggestions and guidance to end up with great results. Moreover, some of our work required creative solutions, which were well executed by the Clark team. Without ongoing dialogue between us and their expertise, I’m sure we would have ended up with ‘surprises’ along the way that resulted in delays and cost overruns. As one other reviewer noted, there are always bumps in a project. We have found the team at Clark has been more than capable of dealing with them efficiently and fairly. It’s worth highlighting that there is truly a team working for you at Clark. All stages of the project leverage the company’s owners, designers, office staff, and project managers to ensure things move quickly and smoothly and that costs are considered along the way. Though some of the people we have worked with through the years have changed, most have stayed the same – and all have generated terrific results. The contractors doing the work have generally done top notch work and have been great to have at the house. In the end, the proof is in the results. We love the work that has been done in each of our projects and we’ve had no reservations going back to Clark or recommending their work to friends. We ended up with great designs, usable and functional space, and very high quality craftsmanship. We did not have surprise costs along the way and all of our projects finished either early or on time relative to the timeline that was set when we agreed on contract details.
