CMS Plumbing, Heating and Cooling has been a Wilmington family business since 1976, when Chuck Mulik built it out of appliance repair work and night classes for his plumbing licence. His son Dave now runs it as president, and the Massachusetts registry lists an active plumbing licence held by CMS Plumbing & Heating Inc. The work spans everything a house needs: plumbing repairs and fixture replacement, boilers and furnaces, central air, ducted and ductless heat pumps, water heaters including hybrid heat pump models, water softeners and filtration, and gas piping. Speed on a dead system is the most vivid thing customers describe. One July 2026 reviewer, house at 90 degrees on a 100-degree day with the central AC dead, had a technician there within the hour and cold air blowing within thirty minutes. Another woke with no heat and had the problem diagnosed, the part fetched and the fix done inside two hours. The second theme is being told what is happening before it happens. Customers repeatedly mention on-site quotes given before any work starts, arrival windows confirmed by text with a photo of the technician, and itemized invoices emailed before the van leaves the driveway. A boiler customer in April 2026 said the technician laid out what to do now, what would be smart sooner rather than later, what was optional, and what he would not recommend. Technicians get named constantly — Chris, Drew, Adam, Troy, Sean, Manny — and several customers say they came to CMS after a long-time family plumber retired and referred them. One customer has now used Chris three times, including for a problem another plumber could not solve. Larger installs draw the same praise. A June 2026 customer had a Mitsubishi heat pump system and a hybrid heat pump water heater installed over a week-long job, with the old oil-fired boiler removed and work areas cleaned at the end of each day. Two accounts point the other way and are worth reading. In a July 2025 review, a customer said a brand new system bought from the company worked for one year and then developed all kinds of problems, called customer service awful, and said the maintenance agreement was worthless. In a March 2026 review, another reported pipes still gurgling and banging three days after service. One customer also noted the pricing runs higher than a handyman's, which they accepted for the quality.
