Connolly Bros Landscaping

Connolly Bros Landscaping has been working driveways, patios, and lawns around Somerville since 1979 — the company says it's still co-owned by Tom and Michael Connolly, the same family that started it. In a city with plenty of lawn-and-plow outfits, a 47-year run under one name is the first thing worth noting. The written track record online is thin, though. The one recent Google review on file, from this spring, describes a paver-patio and sod-installation job done well enough that the customer said they'd call again without a second thought. Google's own aggregate for the business sits at 4.2 stars from six ratings, and an older third-party listing from 2014 put the average at 3.9 across 20 reviews — different pools of reviewers, years apart, but nothing in either points to trouble. Its Better Business Bureau file backs that up with an A+ rating, though the business isn't BBB-accredited. Its own site lists the fuller range of what it does: lawn installation and maintenance, retaining walls, walkways and patios, Rain Bird irrigation, French drains, plowing and sanding, and seasonal clean-ups, covering Somerville, Cambridge, and the towns just north and west of Boston. One thing worth asking about before booking: Connolly Bros' Angi profile is brand new, with zero reviews there yet, and it states plainly that the company doesn't offer emergency service — so this isn't the call for an after-hours drainage crisis. For routine lawn work, hardscaping, or a seasonal clean-up from a shop that's been doing it since the Carter administration, the pieces line up; just don't expect a deep public review history to lean on yet.
