Cornerstone Fence of Connecticut builds fences, railings and gates, and a 2020 Reddit commenter in r/Connecticut placed it in Meriden, saying they had used Cornerstone Fence before and that it did good work. On the Better Business Bureau, Cornerstone Fence & Ornamental Gate, LLC describes itself as offering fence and gate installation and service, tennis court installation, custom pool fencing and electric gate entry systems. Its website lists a service area of York, Litchfield, New Haven, Hartford, Middlesex, Tolland, Windham and New London, and says it has been in business 30 years. A recent customer who had a fence put in down the length of the driveway about 10 years earlier came back for fences to surround the yard, and said everything went smoothly with installers Joe & Gary. A 2025 customer said sales rep Steve laid out three quote options for replacing rusted front railings, and that the new iron rails went in without harming the concrete steps, with the old holes backfilled. A 2025 customer said two men set 35 5x5" PT posts around a rural garden in two days, hand-digging many of the holes so they would not cut underground internet or electrical service. A 2024 customer said the company offered a Plan B for a backyard fence that saved thousands on the estimate. A 2024 customer with a vinyl fence put in by another company said Cornerstone quoted a good price to replace a damaged driveway gate and later came out to replace 2 post caps. A recent customer said a high-end residential gate malfunctioned more than 6 times in its first 6 months; that customer said the repairs were done in a timely manner, but that the company called a later repair an "act of God" and billed the visit and parts without a quote. A recent customer who paid over $6000 for a chain-link fence meant to hold 35-40lb dogs said the dogs could squeeze through gaps between the chain link and the ground, and was told after complaining that a bottom rail would be needed at extra cost; that customer also said the fence looks nice and has stayed strong. A 2025 customer said Paul, from Cornerstone, came to measure for entryway stairs and twice did not follow through on what he said he would do.
“Cornerstone Fence out of Meriden.. used them before they do good work”
Unreliable product - lack of reasonable business practices. High end residential gate malfunctioned >6 times in first 6mon, rendering useless each time until repairs completed. All repairs were completed in timely manner, that I give credit for. Recent repair was determined to be an “act of God” at their discretion, versus a continuation of equipment issues we’ve had since install, and we were hit with a surprise bill for the service visit and parts to repair without a quote or any indication this was a billable event. After expressing frustration and noting how poor of a business practice it is to surprise bill a client, let alone a client with an unacceptable product experience to date, we were (gladly) dismissed as a client with a sarcastic “good luck”. Product material is solid, service tech is great, just pray if you use them that you have a functioning system, as there’s no ownership or desire to create positive experiences when things don’t go as they’d planned.
Wanted a fence to contain my dogs in the backyard. I explained this to Cornerstone and was quoted over $6000 to have one installed. Saved up and pulled the trigger on this deal. The fence looks nice but does not contain my dogs ,which are not small (35-40lb dogs.) There are MANY spots where they are able to squeeze right underneath large gaps between the chain link and the ground. When I complained I was told it would cost thousands more to rectify this issue and they wouldn’t budge on cost considering the circumstances. Had I known the Cost up front it would take to have it done “right” I would have saved my money. Clearly customer satisfaction is not a priority over profit. Would not recommend this company. Edit: several years later, I saw this review and felt a little badly, while everything I said is true I think 1 star was a harsh rating considering the fence did come out looking nice and has remained strong over the years. Was probably heated at the time of review. However, it really did have TONS of places my 40lb (not small) dogs could escape which i had to patch over the years. Overall, I was not satisfied with the product as it did not serve my intention at all, Which my intention was communicated during the sale process. I understand there’s disconnect between sales and install, but I think it should’ve been brought to my intention that that what they were installing would not serve my intended purpose. To clarify, after I complained they stated a bottom rail would be needed to block the opening, but if from the beginning I said I wanted a fence for my dogs, that should have been quoted. I also would have been happy after the fact with getting some middle ground on the cost of the bottom rail installation given the circumstances but was given none. Anyway, I updated to 3 stars since my personal experience was not good but, if you’re just looking for a fence to keep in children or very large dogs, They do a good job with that and the fence does look very nice. FYI they say I am not a customer and have reviews in other states but I’m 100% a customer and idk what I’ve reviewed but if it’s in other states it’s only because I was traveling.
We had an incredibly positive experience having fences installed by Cornerstone Fence! We had a fence installed by them about 10 years ago down the length of our driveway and were so happy with the results that we decided to reach out to them again to have fences installed to surround our yard. From all of our communication with Megan to our sales representative Paul and the interactions with the installers, Joe & Gary, everything went so smoothly and the results are fantastic, we couldn't be happier with the beauty and privacy the fences provide :)
I had a great experience with Cornerstone Fence. From the onset, my sales rep, Steve had excellent communication and provided me with updates throughout the process. I had the front exterior railings replaced that lead to the front door of my house. It all began after measurements. Steve was transparent and provided three different options for quotes, all dependent on different requests I’d made. He didn’t try to upsell me with the highest price, rather, he gave me options that best fit my needs. My old railings were rusted and a part of the concrete steps they went into was slightly cracked. The new iron rails came out great and Cornerstone installed them in a way that preserved my concrete steps. They neatly removed the old railings and backfilled any holes left in the concrete from the old railings. Overall a great experience, I highly recommend. Will be using again for my next project.
Cornerstone installed 35 5x5" PT posts around our large rural garden as we're planning our own fence material to bar deer and rodents. They scheduled promptly at our convenience and the two men they sent were polite and able, carefully hand-digging many of the holes to be sure they didn't cut our underground internet or electrical service. The posts were perfectly spaced, plumb and aligned in two days work. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.
