Ask a Cotti-Johnson customer who did their work and they'll usually give you a name — Chris, Bryant, Gabriel, JT — review after review credits a specific technician for explaining the problem and fixing it right. That's the strength here. What's harder to square is what happens when a bigger job goes sideways: a run of recent reviews describes pricey installs and repairs that didn't hold. The company works out of Taunton and covers Taunton, Raynham, Norwood and Boston, per its own service-area listing, doing HVAC installs and repair alongside electrical, plumbing and duct work across southeastern Massachusetts. It traces back to a sheet-metal shop opened at the Weymouth Shipyard in 1944 by war veterans Louis Cotti and Bill Laurence; Gary Johnson joined in the 1970s and bought the company in 1984, and it's now owned by Adam V. and Angelo S. Boccalini, with longtime employee Kevin Main as a minority partner — the company describes itself as family-owned with 78 years in business. That split between good field work and rockier follow-through shows up in the numbers too: 653 reviews since 2017 across four platforms, a 4.8-star average from 1,419 Google ratings, and BBB accreditation with an A+ grade since 2021. Its HVAC license is active on the state registry. Recent reviews back up the technician praise — a heat pump and dual-fuel AC system installed by a named crew earned an "outstanding job" writeup, and an electrician cleaned up a downed-tree panel repair without leaving a mess. But the same recent stretch includes real trouble: one paying service-plan member says they went a full month without hot water; another describes a $25,000-plus mini-split system that "has not worked right from the very first day"; and an Angi review from February 2026 describes a $15,000 heating system that malfunctioned four times within six months, still under its warranty. An August 2025 review describes an electrician who broke a breaker while giving an estimate and charged for it anyway. Before signing off on anything beyond routine service — a full system install, a big repair, a membership plan — get the warranty and response-time commitments in writing, and ask what happens if the first fix doesn't hold; more than one recent review describes a return visit or a bill for a problem that wasn't actually resolved. Cotti-Johnson is a solid call for day-to-day HVAC and electrical service, where the same technicians turn up review after review with real names attached to the work. For a major system replacement, get the guarantee in writing before the crew arrives.
Tech Chris was very patient and informative professional and definitely knew what he was doing because of all the and associates working for Cotti-johnson they also have a real person keyana that professional answers the phone it's rare to have a person answering the phones these days. If you want a company that make sure you are taking care of then Cotti-johnson is for you. I recommend them for all your needs.
William Gazerro has provided service for our HVAC system several times. He’s always been super efficient, courteous and knowledgeable. His most recent visit was to install new thermostats and I couldn’t be home for the service call. So he took the time to provide detailed operational instructions to my son who then translated back to me. I’d highly recommend William and Cotti-Johnson.
JT was the electrician who provided the service today. He was professional and efficient. He explained everything that he would be doing and completed the job in a timely manner
AVOID THIS COMPANY I am beyond disgusted with Cotti-Johnson. I have been a paying MEMBER with a monthly service agreement, and I have been without hot water for an entire MONTH. A month. As a member. This is not a minor inconvenience — it’s basic negligence. I have called them over and over and over. Every single time it’s the same empty promise: “someone will reach out shortly.” No one ever does. No technician, no callback, no accountability, nothing. I gave them clear deadlines and they blew right past every one of them without so much as an apology. It is genuinely crazy to me that a company can take membership fees every month and then completely abandon a paying customer when something actually goes wrong. They do not care about their members. They do not care about their reputation. They do not care, period. After years of referring business their way, I will never recommend Cotti-Johnson to another living soul, and I am telling everyone I know to steer clear. If you’re considering signing up with them — don’t. Save your money and your sanity and find a company that actually shows up.
Very professional and efficient.
